Those are the tires. H78-15 Bias ply white walls. GMCs weren't as popular as the Chevies so yes, you definitely do have a rare truck on your hands. Probably 1% of 1/2 ton GMCs got the 454 compared to maybe 10-12% of Chevrolets.

Any time, I love to see factory original big block trucks, as well as small block and 6 cylinders.

GM didn't keep very good records of things like that unfortunately. So getting any figures would be very difficult.

I can tell you that 242,930 GMC trucks were made in 1973 and that likely includes the Sprint (El Camino variant). And that's compared to almost 1,000,000 Chevrolet trucks made that year!

That would mean 2500 big block trucks... Not "rare" at all, just uncommon. Unless it is a fully optioned truck, with a higher trim level or something, not much more collector value than a comparably equipped small block truck.

May not been real rare at the time, but think about how many of them have survived this long and still original?

ZL1 Camaros are rare. Z28s are not. There is a huge difference between uncommon and rare. No real collector value in these trucks yet anyways. They're not yet uncommon to see in daily driver use.
