Thought this thread was about tailgate trim?
what made you chose sunday to be wound up?

Im very well aware of what this thread is, and i am unapologetic for the tangent. the original topic is still there and easy to follow, and if it needs more discussion it will get it. Not very hard to figure out.

My great grandpa used it as a water trailer forever, still has factory shocks on it. Just a half ton 5 lug 2wd trailer.

LOL, I have one just like it, same color. I built mine a little heavier with a 2 ton truck axle and frame for hauling rock

i got my answers and have found a NOS thin band for my 79 k10. sounds like 3M VHB double sided tape will work instead of putting holes in my tailgate. appreciate the feedback
I think I would prefer the narrow band too. My 78 Silverado had the wide band. It was just to much. Took it off in favor of the bare tailgate with the Chevrolet raised letters

I have the original ‘75 tailgate with a narrow band and centered GMC, and I have a complete 80’s bed on the truck, with a wide band that has the offset GMC. I once tried fitting the narrow band to the newer tailgate, but the mounting holes definitely did not line up, and it seemed like the angles of the tailgate recess were off and the narrow band did not fit flat.

The narrow band doesnt fit as well on the newer tailgates, shape of recess is slightly different. You really want a 70’s tailgate for the thin band to fit properly. Personally I very much lrefer the thin band, and will be looking to add to my build, once I find a clean tailgate
