Fuses don't always blow. I intentionally put a 60 amp maxi fuse in my 6 guage charge wire between the 150 amp alternator and battery. Well, somehow while experimenting with my stereo last weekend I fried the alt. WTF? I purposely underfunded it to prevent damage for the time being.

Wrong.

So I got the new replacement today and am swapping out the charge wire for a 4 guage and ****-canning the fuse altogether.

I've since been told by several electricians that fused protect from shorts, they normally don't do much for over current (long term). That explains why it melted the fuse holder and fuse but it still didn't blow.

News to me.

Looking at that fuse, the plug in connection wasn't great, hence the hot spot. Always remember the fuse is there to protect the cable, not the appliance.

How big are your subs? lol

Ya well, I hooked up a 12" woofer in combination with the two 10" woofers. Total impedence was right at 2.8 ohms. No big deal as long as I didn't push it too long. But, I forgot about the dual fans while I was sitting in the driveway with the ac on.

We got guys that have trouble finding electrical problems. I just tell them to install the biggest fuse possible and wait for the smoke. You'll find it pretty quick lol (I'm kidding when I say this of course)

Before I reveal my stupidity, let me ask a question. Does the charge wire between the alternator and battery have to be connected in order to excite the alternator to charge? CS130 if it matters.
