You'll need an 8 lug version caliper mounting bracket. The 8 lug rotor is larger and the caliper mount will move the caliper out farther to match. Using the larger piston calipers from the high gvw 3/4T option (jb7) will help with braking too. And since you'll have plenty of rear brake no matter what you do, the bigger front caliper is going to be good idea.

For an 8 lug front, the hardest part to source will be the backing plate. No known aftermarket repops at this time.
You’ll need a large bearing spindle and bearings/seals, rotor/hub. Basically you’ll need the parts for a 3/4 ton.
Your existing 1/2 ton locking hubs will fit the 3/4 ton.

So I have to find a 2500 8 lug 10 bolt to raid for parts? Specifically the backing plate?

So where I’m at now is just finding a d44 from 3/4 ton 8 lug and swapping the whole thing.

I would do a 60 if I can afford it

I see 44s for pretty cheap already with the 4:10s I’m looking for

Can anyone tell what kind of diff this is? Open? locker? They say it’s hub to hub 8 lug. $400 plus $800 shipping to my house

Looks like a Dana, as it has the spreader holes, D60 fronts are rare, wish I had one too, so it is most likely a D44. Make sure it has the right side drop so its compatible. My K20 has one, I like it, it is behind a big block. Here is the build if you want to check it out.

Since there’s no inner u-bolt against the diff, the axle pictured is either a D60 or a Dodge D44 as both of these had studs or bolts on the inboard side of the passenger side leaf spring.

GM version D44’s and 10 bolts both had 2 u-bolts in the above mentioned position.

Edit: if it’s a Dodge D44, there is only a small range of years that are desirable so be careful.

If one of those pics had captured the lower diff webbing to the right (looking at the pic) it would show identifying marks. (“60F” or “44F”)

For that kind of money I'd just hold out for a Dana 60. you can still find them sometimes for $1000 and if it's local to you, then no shipping. Surely there's got to be a Dana44 or 8 lug 10 bolt somwhere closer and I'd never pay over $150 for a Dana 44 or 10 bolt front axle, Have they gone up that much? I mean, if had the gear ratio I needed and 8 lug since a bit more rare, I'd probably do $200 but any more than that, someone is thinking they have Dana 60 parts and it's just not true. There's plenty of the front axles to be had. I do realize, it's getting a bit harder and harder to find, but still, just saying, I wouldn't spend $400 plus $800 shipping for a Dana 44. That's just me.

Around here, they are getting harder to find, especially the 8-lug stuff. I believe the average 8-lug front is $300-400 now.

Wow, still better than $1200 though.

I really not interested in 1200 junk yard 44. I called a few of the local yards and no one had what I was looking for. 8 bolt 73-87

I am in the hunt now for a 60.

I will Probally change out the hubs/spindles backing plate to see if I can run 8 lugs on my 10 bolt till I find a good price 44 with the gears I need.Or a 60 at a price I can live with.
