from what year to what year rear can I stick in an 88 K5? I need a cheap swap to get Stitch up and rolling again. With me not working I can't do my rear gear and locker swap so I plan on hitting pull a part if they have what I need.

They started in the '82-'83 year range. Through '87 in pickups and through '91 in K5's and Burbs.

You can use a 2wd axle too, just swap in your current shafts and drums. BUT, you have to be careful with axleshaft spline count going that route, they went from 28 spline to 30 spline in '88-'89. You could have either.

Roger... needless to say I need to look around for a junked half ton around the same year. I was considering a rear from a 99 with lsd if it would drop right in.
