Hi, I was going to sell my I believe it has 2.— gear ratio 3rd member and 10-bolt housing out of my 1981 Silverado 2wd with 110,000 original miles on it in the near future. Everything is in good shape it lived an easy life. I was wondering how much I should charge to sell on it probably Craigslist? Oh it’s a one tire spinner type rearend to.

I would look up what a local Pick N Pull charges for them in your area as a good starting point.

Or look them up on Craigslist and charge $20 less then the next comparable one.

Around here, the 2.56 and 2.73 geared units are basically worthless.

The only way you can really make it worth selling for more than 100 bucks is if it came with a 3 series diff that was a rebuildable limited slip, otherwise someone might give you around 75 to 125 bucks for it on a good day.

I'd rather chase a 3.08 all over town than those 2.73's if they were sitting in my front yard, lol.

Sounds like you need to buy some highway gear 2.73 10 bolts
My truck started life as a 12 bolt 3.08 gov bomb (blown before me) and i went to a 10 bolt 3.42 and later added an aftermarket posi... blew it. Then swapped in another 10 bolt 3.42 posi (unsure factory or not) this is its current state.
