I've never seen a 10' bed in person, so I figured this one was noteworthy.

I've heard of people lengthening beds, but not on a square before. Is it a custom job on a 3+3 frame, or was this something that could be special ordered from the factory?

It likely started life as a chassis cab utility truck that someone later installed a homemade stretched fleet side bed on. People often buy retired utility trucks from auctions and do creative things like this with them.

In the 70’s there were trucks built with a “Long Foot” package which was a 10’ bed, I’ve only seen a few of them posted over the years and they always seem to be 2wd. I’d guess those were built by conversion company with the approval of GM.

I agree that this 87 truck is a converted cab & chassis as the rear axle placement looks oddly rearward compared to the Long Foot trucks. Too bad it’s got so much rust on the bed, it would be cool to have.

I wondered if it was a conversion company much like extended cab squares were, but also I see what you are seeing in the axle placement.

I had a friend with a 72 C30 long horn that bed is actually 8 1/2 feet not 10, see this link: http://www.longhorntrucks.freeservers.com/

The Longhorn had an extra 6" added to an 8' bed. There was room to add a custom gas tank in front of a standard camper - they all were wooden floor beds - not 10' long

I have owned a 69 and a 72 Longhorn.
They ARE 8.5'.
I had a custom 30 gal tank made for the 72 and loaded my 11.5' Amerigo behind it.

Pic of a Duramax with a 12' bed.
