Sweet, thanks... I googled those seats and it seems I can get new ones for less than new foam and covers for my OE seat frame

Sure thing, yeah, the custom brackets are a bit of a challenge since these are split 60/40, but who knows if they come out clean enough, maybe I can sell the design to LMC or Squarebodysyndicate

here is the the 40 split side of the seat next to the old bench

from that the new bench can recline quite a bit, but thats as far forward it can go without folding down

Thanks, that helps quite a bit. I'm confident in my ability to make a custom frame but I'm subscribed to see how you get it done.

heck yeah, hopefully I can get you part or hopefully all the way there

it is funny though to see the difference in design of these seats

the new seats are super beefy and use giant bearing surfaces on the screws

the old seats are pretty thin gauge brackets and 6 smallish (5/16?) screws

New seats are designed to restrain the passenger in an accident, the middle seat has a shoulder belt attached to it and the other two seats have the short end attached to the seat frame. In old trucks all of the belts bypass the seat and attach to the body and the belt bears the burden of restraining the passenger.

Gonna ruin the look of your whole truck because you're scared of whiplash? You do realize the truck doesn't have airbags or crumple zones either right? If you insist on modern safety, drive a modern car. Idk about you, but I'm not planning on getting into a wreck. If you don't drive too slow or stay stopped too long your chance of getting rear ended in normal traffic drops by a ton...
