Looks like I got the 3.05 ratio.

I mean, I know it shouldn't be that difficult. But at that point, the tranny is dang near out of the car. I guess I'll see what I can come up with and go from there. The car has some other problems to keep me occupied while I decide what to do about the trans.

Well, the other repairs aren't taking long. Got the AC fixed and the power door lock switches working again. Which btw, those little guys have computer chips in them. But after a disassembly and some cleaning, both switches work.

All that's left is brakes, then decide on the transmission situation.

So it's coming up on a year and I still haven't done anything with the Malibu, other than drive it to town a couple times. The wife wants me to get rid of it and I'm really not attached to it, other than it was her mother's car. I would really like the engine for one of my Celebrities though. If fact, I always told her mother that I wanted the car from her so I could yank the engine out, lol.

But anyway, these cars are basically worthless now aren't they? I'm trying to decide if it would be best to sell it whole, or simply pull what I want and haul off the rest. The car is in decent shape with almost no rust, other than the trans issue, it needs pads/rotors and the front tire needs the bead cleaned up. If I sold it whole, I'd just end up buying a 3500 v6 from the junkyard at some point anyway. I'm all for keeping another Chevy on the road, but I'm not sure it makes sense to me this time.

Yeah, those cars don’t bring much and aren’t that desirable to anyone. That’s about a $1500 car on a really good day :) if your really want the engine, pull it and scrap the rest IMO
