    TBI Valve Cover Swap

I forgot that the truck covers are set up a bit different from the car type covers. But basically all that matters is you have a PCV on one side, and a breather on the other side. The oil fill can be on either. The oil fill hole is the one without the baffle on the underside. You can adapt the...

You'll also have to forgive me, as I'm going off of memory. I'm currently out of town and away from everything.

    TBI Valve Cover Swap

You can put those grommets into different holes. Use the cover with two holes on the passenger side. It will get the oil fill cap and the large hole grommet for a breather. Use the small hole grommet on the driver's side, with the pcv valve.

What's the drop and tire specs? It always seems "perfect" for my tastes.

You would use a standard aftermarket style push-in oil fill cap, along with pre-'86 style pcv grommets.

    88 Suburban cargo door pins/kit

Have you tried a Chevy dealer? I'm sure they are long discontinued, but stuff like that often sits around. If none are available, a helpful dealer will at least supply you with part numbers so you can search online (like ebay).

    Power Tour

Yep, still planning on going. Registered and planning on making all 5 stops. There's still several minor things I want to do to the car before we go, hoping I can squeeze that all in. Mainly clean the car up real good, swap the radiator out, change the carb and replace the front pads. Oh and...

454 peanut head cam change fun.

That's what I wanted you to be aware of before. You can either run different springs, or have the guides cut down for smaller seals. You already have the springs, so I'd recommend dropping the heads off to have the guides cut and a valve job if needed. They can also install the new springs to...

    350 to 454 in a K10: What Motor Mounts?

Truck springs have high enough spring rates that the ~200lb difference isn't really noticeable to most people. Especially a leaf sprung K10.

    Did they mess up belts?

The belt routing is correct. Those belts don't fight each other because the crank pulley grooves and the PS pulley grooves are the same diameter.

    Oil sending unit hole issue

I forgot to point out, OP did a darn fine job of getting that picture of the pipe plug. That can be a hard area to see.

    Dual fuel tank filling

The 4500 that I drive often, the main fuel sender quit working too, so the gauge doesn't work. I wired a dash switch to the relay so I can manually transfer. If towing, I run about 130 miles, then turn on the transfer pump for 22 minutes. That pumps another 13 gallons into the main tank and I...

    Oil sending unit hole issue

Yep, what he said^^^ It's just a square drive pipe plug. It's 1/8" NPT thread. The size of the square drive varies by manufacturer.

What have you done to your square lately??

I think it's a mixed bag with spray paint. Overall, I've had good luck with Rustoleum Chevy Orange. VHT in the 90's seemed like way better stuff than what they sell now.

    350 to 454 in a K10: What Motor Mounts?

You shouldn't have to. It's been done time and time again. The reason I recommended the poly mounts is because the factory mounts often sag badly. Even a small block can end up rubbing the balancer on the crossmember. I've used the Energy Suspension brand and I know they fit well. Sometimes it's...

    Dual fuel tank filling

The later 4500 and 5500 rigs are like that too. Eventually they quit working, the fuel doesn't transfer from the rear tank and you end up out of fuel, lol. Something to do with the PCM. If you jumper the fuel pump relay, it will run the transfer pump so you can get fuel back into the main tank.

    My thoughts on spare alternators

I honestly love the older trucks for all of that. I'm perfectly comfortable, about the only thing I would like would be the heated seats in the winter time.

1- Yes 2- I do believe so 3- No, it will all fit fine 4- I don't have the part numbers, just use what you have from the small block and it will work. Although, I highly recommend Energy Suspension poly engine mounts.

    Dual fuel tank filling

If you just want to fill up the cars at home, imho, just spend a few bucks up front and keep it simple. Just buy a 110 gal "transfer" tank from TSC or the like that is designed to fit easily in a pickup bed, along with a 12v transfer pump. You can get the kit that comes with the siphon tube, the...

Most tanks will still have a decent amount of fuel in the bottom of the tank that the siphon tube won't reach.

    My thoughts on spare alternators

On long trips in one of my older cars, I tend to carry a known good used alternator and also a jumper box. Along with an essential tools kit and other spare parts.
