Oil pan off, anything I should do while I’m under there?

It’s a 74 C10, original base model 350, so most likely 2-piece. I’ve found some videos showing how it can be done with the crank in the engine. I just hope I don’t have to do that.

Oil pan off, anything I should do while I’m under there?

Never mind. I found the answer to my dumb question in another thread. Now, I just need to find the thread about replacing the rear main seal without pulling the engine. :)

Oil pan off, anything I should do while I’m under there?

Probably a dumb question, but can the oil pan be removed without pulling, or at least raising the engine?

What’s the best polish for the bumpers and mirrors

I've recently started using Flitz metal polish on my chrome parts, and it works great.

    Blower motor wont turn off

No, the other way around. It cuts the power when the lever is depressed. It doesn’t have AC, so 90% of the time it will be off, and I doubt it will see very many cycles.

    Blower motor wont turn off

Here’s my solution to it (74 C10). It’s a micro limit switch, mounted so that the Off/Heat/Defrost selector presses the switch lever and opens the circuit when it’s in the Off position. This will be wired to a relay to provide power to the blower motor when the lever is moved to Heat or Defrost.

    Blower motor wont turn off

I thought about doing that, too. In fact, I ordered a switch for the purpose before deciding I didn't want to cut holes in my dash. I have a relay, and I've ordered a limit switch with a lever. I plan to mount the switch to the plate in the ventilation control unit so that it opens the circuit...

    Blower motor wont turn off

Has anyone successfully rigged a switch/relay in one of these models, such that when the Off/Def/Heat selector is all the way left (Off) it turns off the blower motor?

    Door Jamb switch housing

I'm in Gainesville. I'm thinking something like this might be the ticket: https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection.asp?Product=MS21047 I might be able to fit it through the hole to rivet it on the backside. Failing that, I could flip it over and rivet it on the outside. Before I...

    Door Jamb switch housing

I'm resurrecting this thread because I'm dealing with the same issue on my 74 C10. I ordered a pair of switches from LMC Truck, which appear to be identical to the Painless replacement. The problem is that there's nothing in the door jamb to screw into, and the hole is larger than the nut on the...

74 C10 windshield washer nozzle location

Thanks, @legopnuematic, yup, those are totally different from what's under my hood. No wonder they weren't attached when I bought the truck. Many thanks for the assist, gents!

74 C10 windshield washer nozzle location

I'm thinking maybe what's in there aren't the original nozzles. When I find replacements on ClassicIndustries and other sites, they look totally different.

74 C10 windshield washer nozzle location

Thanks, @Turbo4whl! Would you be able to get a closeup pic of how they’re mounted? I see holes in the underside of the hood, but I can’t find the right orientation to make them fit.

74 C10 windshield washer nozzle location

The 1974 C10 I recently acquired has the washer nozzles hanging loose in the engine compartment, and I can't for the life of me figure out where they are supposed to mount. Can someone with a similar model post a picture of where they go? I've searched the forum, but haven't been able to find an...

'74 C10 - CJ Classic Trucks steering column

Howdy, gents! My '74 C10 was originally a 3-spd column shift, but it's been converted to floor shift. I'm considering replacing the steering column with an aftermarket tilt model. Does anyone have experience with the CJ Classic Trucks columns offered by CJ Pony Parts? They're about half the...

    '74 C10 Step Side - New Guy

Probably not. The ATs are nearly brand new, and I like the look of them. Also, other than an Edelbrock intake manifold and 4bbl carb, I think the engine is the stock 145hp model, so it's not like it needs sticky street rubber...at least not yet.

    '74 C10 Step Side - New Guy

Hello everyone! My name is Ron, and I've chosen to feed my midlife (52 years old) crisis by acquiring a really nice 1974 C10 Step side, with a 350 SB and 3-spd transmission. It's bought, paid-for, and registered, and I'll pick it up and bring it home this Saturday morning. Once I have it I'll...
