Old man constantly asked to drop his truck.Any stock height C10s left in the world??

Interesting because my truck has been used on forestry tracks and country roads that are barely there ,through river beds and covered in mud and ****.Hauled wood ,fencing and most of all100s of bikes pissing out fluids all over my spray in liner. Then when I get home I do some really weird ****...

Old man constantly asked to drop his truck.Any stock height C10s left in the world??

To an outsider (Australia) the carolina squat looks ridiculous and screams "I am desperate to get noticed " and will do anything to make that happen. Take a short wheelbase square remove the bed and fit another cab facing to the rear would be a trend and only a little bit more "Stupid" than the...

Old man constantly asked to drop his truck.Any stock height C10s left in the world??

After reading all these posts I think I will just leave it stock for now. The wheels on it are 17 inch rally replicas which ride better over potholes and give me a better tire choice here in OZ but nobody ever picks them up as not being stock. It currently has 340hp which is enough for its...

Thats the biggest worry (ride quality) as although this thing is well cared for it gets used on dirt roads and will still be used as a bike carrier. One of my closest friends has a remote property totally off the grid that will be a no go for the truck if I drop it.

95% of the pickups here are also lowered. I thought a 3/4 drop would look ok but leaving it stock is starting to have some appeal. It's not like the people commenting are young bucks but mostly old dudes my age saying get that thing down. Maybe I should be a rebel at my age and just leave it...

My 700r4 changes too early ?

It's my now retired shop truck from my now closed motorcycle business. It's a daily driver/run around for me. ZZ4 is a GM crate motor. The 9 inch rear is from 14 years ago when I had all sorts of HP fantasies that died with the realities of real life. It sounds like it is changing normally after...

My 700r4 changes too early ?

Thanks will check all that out. Especially the floor mats I put some extra thick sound deadener under floor carpet a while back! Could be that simple.

I am 67 and my shop truck is an old friend of 13 years that has also been retired after carting motorcycles and parts around for all those years. I am in Australia so C10s are not that common but everywhere I go these days I get told "Nice truck" but you need to get it dropped ASAP! I have been...

My 700r4 changes too early ?

If I put the peddle to the floor it will change around 3500 -4000rpm 3 to OD but the lower gears change even earlier. Will this shift kit do the trick? ZZ4/700R4 and ford 9 inch with 3.50 gears...

    Carburetor recommendation

Fitted a rebuilt quady from summit racing to my ZZ4 crate motor 5 years ago. Truck is driven sedately to tire smoking hard. Very economical if I stay out of the secondaries. Only issue is in summer the fuel in the bowl evaporates if it sits more than 3 days and have to crank the **** out of it...

Am I crazy to expect more than 10 MPG

Interesting!I didn't know that. That makes more sense of low fuel mileage the poster is getting. I still think the quadrajet is great for economy if you drive gently.

Am I crazy to expect more than 10 MPG

WTF ? 350HO crate, performer intake manifold, long tube headers,700r4 3.5 gears in a ford 9 inch, rebulit Quadrajet. Around town driving like a granny and never out of the primarys I get 16-17mpg and its never getting into OD. As soon as I drive it hard and into the secondarys it drops to 6-7mpg...

Nobody does a 2/2 drop but I want to?

Thanks for advice.Spindles it is as I like the idea of still having full suspension travel. Can you suggest a good brand that is 100% US made as I am sick of buying parts that are an American brand only to find "made in China " once I have them. I will install the spindles and lower the rear...

Nobody does a 2/2 drop but I want to?

I want to drop my 86 silverado 2 inchs front and rear.I like the way it sits but would just like it a little less 4WD looking. It is running 17 inch wheels. I bought some 2 inch lowering shackles for the rear and dropped the rear 1 inch just to see what a difference it made was thinking I could...

Old fashioned sleeper needs more HP.

leather buckets out a 96 silverado .They were there when I bought it. The rally wheels are 17 inch alloy replica's which are a lot lighter than steels and have a better range of tires available than 15s here in Australia.

Old fashioned sleeper needs more HP.

I can buy a low mileage panel damaged SS Holden here for about $3500 complete. They run an LS6 and a 6L80E and would come with all the electronics etc that I need . It actually cost more for a motor and box here if they are already out of the car. I REALLY REALLY wish I had done this now but...

Old fashioned sleeper needs more HP.

Point taken I destroyed the 10 bolt in short order but it was well worn. The 9 inch is overkill for what is most likely 270 hp at the wheels with the current motor but I am learning the hard way better to spend the money now than have to do it again. The 700R4 is being replaced in a few weeks...

Old fashioned sleeper needs more HP.

Hi to everyone on this site.I have been lurking on this site for some time but have made a few mistakes on my project 86 silverado so I think it's time to get some opinions and advice. My main mistake is I replaced the tired 305 with a 330hp GM crate engine thinking it was enough horsepower for...
