Carburetor recommendation
Fitted a rebuilt quady from summit racing to my ZZ4 crate motor 5 years ago. Truck is driven sedately to tire smoking hard. Very economical if I stay out of the secondaries. Only issue is in summer the fuel in the bowl evaporates if it sits more than 3 days and have to crank the **** out of it...- tubehead

Interesting!I didn't know that. That makes more sense of low fuel mileage the poster is getting. I still think the quadrajet is great for economy if you drive gently.- tubehead

WTF ? 350HO crate,performer intake manifold,long tube headers,700r4 3.5 gears in a ford 9 inch,rebulit Quadrajet. Around town driving like a granny and never out of the primarys I get 16-17mpg and its never getting into OD. As soon as I drive it hard and into the secondarys it drops to 6-7mpg...- tubehead

Poor mpg
350HO 700r4 9 inch ford diff 3.5 gears.Rebuilt quadrajet getting 16.8mpg driving like a granny around town.6mpg driven hard.- tubehead

Thanks for advice.Spindles it is as I like the idea of still having full suspension travel. Can you suggest a good brand that is 100% US made as I am sick of buying parts that are an American brand only to find "made in China " once I have them. Nobody does a 2/2 drop but I want to?
I want to drop my 86 silverado 2 inchs front and rear.I like the way it sits but would just like it a little less 4WD looking.It is running 17 inch wheels. Old fashioned sleeper needs more HP.
leather buckets out a 96 silverado .They were there when I bought it. The rally wheels are 17 inch alloy replica's which are a lot lighter than steels and have a better range of tires available than 15s here in Australia.- tubehead

I can buy a low mileage panel damaged SS Holden here for about $3500 complete.They run an LS6 and a 6L80E and would come with all the electronics etc that I need . It actually cost more for a motor and box here if they are already out of the car. I REALLY REALLY wish I had done this now but...- tubehead

Point taken I destroyed the 10 bolt in short order but it was well worn. The 9 inch is overkill for what is most likely 270 hp at the wheels with the current motor but I am learning the hard way better to spend the money now than have to do it again. The 700R4 is being replaced in a few weeks...- tubehead
