'87 GMC Suburban V1500 1/2 ton - replacing leaf springs

I've always used 7lbs per gallon as my weight for fuel if not exact, close enough. I would not upgrade springs just for a fuel tank it probably won't be full most if the time anyway. More than likely why you are adding a gas tank,so you don't have to stop for fuel as often.

    Good rear gears

The above needs some qualifying. That will work provided it has a posi or welded diff etc. If it's an open diff you need to turn the tire through 2 revolutions. When you start spinning the tire look at the other side,is the other tire spinning the opposite direction? If so it is most likely an...

    Can this be removed?

No need to plug it,you might want to keep it,in case you decide you need it in cold weather. It is hurting absolutely nothing sitting there. That had a big hose that feeds warm air to the carbureator in cold weather. Even with an open element air cleaner like yours I've still been able to run...

    Starter - Looking for Quality

Shimming a starter is the last option. First you have to make sure the mounting surfaces are clean and flat. You need to make sure the Flywheel/flexplate is in good shape. If the starter has/had a support bracket, use it it helps keep the alignment, use proper bolts torqued to spec. I've never had...

    Spray booth??

Build your own. Emt( conduit ) and tarps. Much more versatile and stores easy. I'll try to find a link for the fittings. Ventilation, blow through using fans and furnace filters. Do not draw through. I made my fittings using short sections of next larger size conduit, easy if you can cut and weld...

    Reverse light options

Use a spring loaded pull type switch hook it to the 1st reverse shift lever at the transmission. Use something flexible like fishing line as your pull wire so it doesn't bind when you go to 1st.

AN fittings need to be drilled?

Yea. Is it smaller than the inside if the factory steel line running from the tank to the front. Stick a drill bit in each to check size.

    My new 83 k30

You are talking about cams, head porting, etc, down the road. Porting old,not great iron heads, when there are so much better aluminum heads that you can just bolt on and go. Messing with the original heads is a waste of time IMHO. swap heads while you are doing headers and proflo, you are more that...

    Good rear gears

People drove these trucks everyday, cross country, just like they came from the factory, sure someone may have ordered it or installed some tall gears in it. As @legopnuematic said find out what ratio you have and your tire size. Or get us rpm at 60mph and your tire size.

1985 C20: Carb not getting fuel

If it's s qjet with a vent hose to the charcoal cannister.,I pull the vent hose off at the carb, and fill the carb through the air horn vent using a mustard bottle or dish soap bottle full of fuel, until fuel dribbles out the vent hose barb. Never measured it,I will next time. Fill where the...

    Leaking Metal Fuel Line??

Pull the rubber hose at each end leave the rubber attached to the suspect line, put a bolt in rubber hose as a stopper squirt everything with dish soap and water hit the other rubber hose with some air pressure. Look for bubbles. Just blow some air in it,don't clamp the compressor hose to it.

    Finally got a running 65 C10

For one thing too many sizes, types and preferences. And most guys don't change them with cam swaps, most change them at valve job time or when they start leaking.
