What’s the best way to fix/clean up this wiring problem?

Cleaning up that mess of wires is not going to solve your drain issue.

    Power loss with aggressive acceleration

I had a small block that slowly lost power once. It was a cam and timing chain issue

    Loose timing chain replacement

Crank gear does not need to be removed to install a timing chain but cam gear will have to be unbolted.

How does this sort of thing happen????

Have you checked to see if the outer bolt tab has not broken from the block? It appears to be a problem for SBC, BBC, and 6.2 diesel.

    Modified engine crewcab gas mileage?

I'm always amused by how much money people are willing to spend to squeak out another MPG or two in their square. Gas is cheap and getting cheaper under the new administration. Just fill it up and run it.

    First major project vehicle!

Make sure the outer engine block tab for the starter is not broken as it is a weak spot for the 6.2. There are fixes but none are very easy. Also make sure you use the bracket on the back of the starter. You may have to fabricate one if it is missing.

Can you tag the truck "antique" like here in PA and forget about inspections forever?

    New K1500 Project Owner

I don't run spares in any trucks. You can find a 12v compressor with sealant for about $50. That will give you about a 50/50 chance of making it home and not calling a rollback. Many new cars have no spare.

Replacement Panels - All Created Equal - Yes or No?

I've been using LMC for over 20 years. I never had a problem. I have seen videos on YouTube where most of the original GM dies were sold and transferred to Taiwan . Keep in mind , inner rockers and floor pans ,as well as cab supports, don't have as much impact as quarter panels or door skins.

New to engine swaps, looking for help with an LS3 swap into my 79 k20

What is a LS going to do for you that the 400 can't do? People swap 350's and collect 400"s I heard that once here. I've had a few 400's and am sold on the torque that they produce. .

700r4 TV cable cause acceleration/run away with 6.2?

I recently had to replace the throttle cable on my 6.2. It was sticking, not accelerating. Was able to get a GM part.

    Help with starting 79 k20 400SBC

I agree with Nedrow, the timing is way out cause it spits and sputters when it was flipped 180. That means there is spark and fuel present.

Engine Block Heater for SBC 350

My 6.2 does not like the cold but it sure likes the factory block heater. I have it on a timer. The quicker you can get the engine up to temp the better, gas or diesel.

    Engine stumbling/stalling in drive

You might want to experiment with initial timing. Try backing it off or increasing it 2 deg at a time and drive it for a couple of days. I usually end up at 8. You have to find the sweet spot for your engine.

    Power Steering Squeel

I had a similar problem on my k10 diesel when i got it. A PO had put a PS pump with an AC double pulley on it with a non AC crank pulley as the truck is non AC.. They require totally different belts with different angles. I was looking in Rockauto at specs for the pulleys and belts when I...

PVC and PEX for Compressed Air

Keep in mind that PEX is UV sensitive. It's a good product within it's limitations. Not nearly as dangerous as PVC.

Surface rust. What are the best practices?

You should install the hood reinforcement brackets before it gets damaged. I don't care how much lube you put on the hinges. Once it bends it's too late.

350 sounds like a diesel engine

Get a stethascope at HF and pinpoint the location. If your truck has cats don't forget to check them.
