2005 Ram 2500 Free Spin Install & Other Goodies

One of my concerns of the four post was that the runways would be in the way, might be more of an issue on low vehicles, like say a C6 corvette, but for trucks and such that are higher it’s a non issue thus far. And the runways are nice to set things on while working (which might prove to be a...

2005 Ram 2500 Free Spin Install & Other Goodies

Checked the backlash of the front and then pulled the carrier out to knock the axle seals out (or in I suppose). Still not sure what is the cause of the missing pieces of the carrier. Driver's side cleaned up and painted Axle shaft seals had been replaced before. Driver's side was weeping...

2005 Ram 2500 Free Spin Install & Other Goodies

I've seen to have caught whatever bug is going around here, not really been feeling my best, but trying to carry on anyways. Some pictures of the goodies Doing a basic cleanup and paint on the axle ends. No pebble beach concourse here, but make things a little nicer than what we started with...

2005 Ram 2500 Free Spin Install & Other Goodies

Don’t anyone tell Gale Banks about the flat back rear differential cover! Pulled the wheels off, brake calipers hung to the side, rotors slid off. Unbolted the unit bearings and passenger side slid out easy, drivers side took a couple of whacks but came free easy enough. Much easier than the...

2005 Ram 2500 Free Spin Install & Other Goodies

It happened that I decided to buy the four post at the time Shane decided to pull the trigger on the free spin setup and other parts, he was able to take advantage of sales at the time. This is the first project on the lift. Pulling in the shop Lifting it up to look underneath and give a good...

2005 Ram 2500 Free Spin Install & Other Goodies

Thought I would make a thread detailing some work I’m helping my friend do on his 2005 Ram 2500, QCSB, 5.9 Cummins, 4x4. A little backstory on the truck itself, as mentioned above it’s a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500, Quad Cab, short bed, 5.9 Cummins, automatic, 4x4. About 218K miles on it and is far...

86 1/2 ton gears needed for 33” with new 383

Like the 2.14 ratio available in the 7.5” ten bolt axles. Pinion is almost as big as the ring gear, but I think the land speed guys like them. To the OP, with a healthy 383 that is built up some, 3.73 gears and 33” tires should be ok, but if you are in hilly terrain or will be loaded 4.10s...

    O2 sensor question

Does it have a plug/connector at the gauge? On the ones I have I run the connector to the gauge from the outside of the firewall to the inside. Instead of the plug at the sensor from the inside out.

What have you done to your square lately??

Moved it out of the shop and into my friend's unit to make room to assemble the 4 post lift. First time I've moved it in a few months I think. Thinking I will pull the motor out soon and probably put a new pan on it and reseal it again. Maybe put some parts I've had for it for the last five...

What new tools have you got lately?

Got everything torqued and double checked, leveled it with a stick rule and laser level, within a 32nd of an inch corner to corner. Then tried it out: Then put on what will be the first project, my friends 2005 2500. Will be receiving a Dynatrac free spin kit, new ball joints, axle shaft...

What new tools have you got lately?

Progress report on the lift install. Got started on it a lot later than I wanted to as I had put that other Dodge parts truck up for sale on the 26th and was waiting for the buyer to show up yesterday. Was only five hours late or so, but was able to sell that truck for $700 (I bought it for...

What new tools have you got lately?

Was wondering if it was ever going to arrive. Just took delivery of a 9k pound four post lift. Ordered it during a black Friday sale and it finally arrived today. Waiting for my buddy to get off work and then head up to the shop to start putting it together.

    67 Mile V10

It definitely is not the most intuitive way to do that, IMO. Not sure why they would make it so you have to hover over it to have it tell you that. I would not at all doubt there is some under the table business that goes on. I try to stay away from conspiracy theory's and tinfoil hats, but I...

@TX87R10 Looking at it, the likes after the user name is the total likes, if you hover the mouse over it, it says "This author's likes:" So its the total for all of their comments, then the thumbs up after the message is the likes on that specific comment. So all of those comments from yours...
