I have three kids and get lost in their world if something is not broken. Here's more info on the wheels and brakes even if it is late. The wheels I put on were Method 17x8.5 MR701 +0 offset with 6x5.5 lug spacing. These will not fit a stock suburban without wheel spacing out about 1/2" or...- ballencd

Slightly off topic but how do you tell when the lockup on a 700R4 is engaged? 1991 Suburban -

The tie rod end hit the inside of the wheel. Of course the dealer said they fit even thought they did not. I was also in the process of changing the brakes and could tell that that would fix it so I dropped it with the wheel dealer. When putting Hummer brakes on the axle the rotor was removed...- ballencd

I removed the "1500" logos on the doors. And started cleaning up the white corrosion coming thru the paint on the rear floor. -

Which manual transmission?

The gauges have not failed again since the wire wiggling. The engine only has about 130K on it but I do run Lucas and 15-40 Rotella in it already. I think is was a loose wire.- ballencd

There is no mechanical interference on the wire. Picture looks like they touch but they are far apart. Interesting......today I pulled the dash and wiggled all the wires, moved the tach wire away from the rest, reseated a few wires and the problem for now has gone. Would that fail only when the engine is warm and its revved up in REVERSE with the brake on? Wouldn't it fail all the time it was warm and revved up....FORWARD or REVERSE or NEUTRAL.....? I think I can test it via resistance sending unit to ground and it should fail if that's what it is but I...- ballencd

Yes, gauge is electric. Caveat of the broken or shorted wire is that they are all new, have been inspected and look good. No evidence of mice or rats. Not near the exhaust as it is several inches away at the filter and in convoluted tubing. There is also the issue that it only does this when...- ballencd

Italia83.....Yes brand new....several months old Speed Hut gauges. No chaffing wires in convoluted tubing and thru grommet in firewall. I agree it does not make sense that it can drop pressure instantly and only when in reverse with a load on it....brakes or trailer. Engine is running fine...- ballencd
