    350 tbi running too cold

Since everyone's been helpful with my big block issue, i figured maybe someone knows what's going on with my small block. TBI 350 in my suburban, 195 degree thermostat and a new spectra CU730 radiator (19" tall with a 2-1/8" thick core). The replacement radiator matched what I took out which...

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

Sorry, meant 045 heads. I have another set of 049 cores sitting in my garage waiting to get some love.

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

Yeah, Got that installed and currently have a 180 t stat. I dont think it was boiling over. sensor was in the head prior to me refreshing the motor, but i switched from 049 casting heads to 781 heads. I figured the heads would be hotter, but it sat at right under 210 before this with the sensor...

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

Sensor is in the head. It’s a new sensor too and I verified using my ir heat gun. The external head temp was reading around 235-245 Thanks for the tip. I’ve got probably 5 or 6 t stats sitting around my garage so I’ll try that with one of them. Radiator got delayed so hopefully one night this...

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

Interesting. I thought it said 4 row on the description. Oddly enough I just slapped a similar radiator in my suburban with a 2-1/4” thick core so if this one is thinner, I might just put it in my suburban and put the suburban radiator in the k30 since they both are 19” tall radiators

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

Not sure what was in it originally, it appears to be the original rad. I ordered a replacement off rockauto https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/fvp,RAD730,radiator,2172

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

Ok well I verified that I have the belt routed correctly around the pump and that my pump is in fact reverse rotation so no issues there. Pressured up the system again after I drained coolant and no obvious leaks other than some loose hose clamps. I managed to poke a nice little hole in the...

I’m planning on pulling it and taking the cover off to inspect. Once I get home I can snag some pics

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

Cruise is around 14-15. Idle is 11-12. It gets hot whether I drive it around or not. Not sure on total timing. Vac advance is hooked up to manifold vac Not sure, but it was running right under 210 before I took it apart about 10 months ago

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

Also forgot to mention I checked the head temp with a heat gun and the outside surface is around 245 so I relieve my gauge is accurate

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

I believe so. When I burped the system initially it looked like there was fluid flowing once the t stat opened up. I haven’t paid attention to the lower hose but I’ll check it out. I also don’t suspect the t stat since the new one didn’t change anything. As far as the water pump, it should...

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

So, I got my truck put back together after doing a mild refresh on my both block and I can’t figure out why it’s running hot. Here are the details: - mark iv 454 - gen 6 pistons and rods with new cast iron rings and trimetal bearings - gen 6 roller cam with new roller lifters, pushrods...

    No lights issue

So fusible links are good I’m assuming since continuity tests were good. I definitely had it wired wrong. Thanks Ricko1966!

    No lights issue

Finished putting my truck back together and it runs great, but I don’t have any lights (interior or exterior). Went through the whole troubleshooting process and found that my wires are good (continuity tests passed), but I’m still not getting power to the headlamp switch. I think I narrowed it...

Dash Brake light comes on after a couple minutes of driving

Ok, well I figured I'd provide a final update and wrap this up. I found the light was consistently coming on when the speedo hit 37 mph. I tried resetting the RWAL controller and still nothing. Lo and behold, i was pulling out of my driveway yesterday and noticed my brake lights were on despite...

Question about converting to a roller cam

I'm looking at possibly converting my Mark IV motor to a roller cam. I know I'll need to find roller lifters, pushrods, and a distributor gear. I already have a stock gen 6 camshaft that appears to be in good condition and I'd like to use that vs spending $500+ for a bbc roller cam. Looking at...

Dash Brake light comes on after a couple minutes of driving

Thats what I think I'm going to try. I also found the below for anyone who's having this issue or wants to learn more about these early abs systems https://www.aa1car.com/library/abs_kelseyhayes_rwal.htm It looks like I need to reset my DRAC to reflect tire size & gearing changes because...

Dash Brake light comes on after a couple minutes of driving

Ok, so I did some more digging and found this thread below: https://www.dieselplace.com/threads/replaced-hydroboost-now-brake-warning-light-comes-on.160928/ Same symptoms I'm encountering and it looks like I may have disconnected the RWALS/ABS module the wrong way or done something to set a...

Dash Brake light comes on after a couple minutes of driving

Update: I verified that the valve was centered and re-bled the whole system with the valve centering tool in place of the switch. The issue is still present and I'm wondering if it has to do with the hydroboost install? it's still a disc/drum setup so nothing has changed and I double checked...

Dash Brake light comes on after a couple minutes of driving

So E brake is hooked up and return spring is still good. When I release the e brake after starting the truck, the light disappears. It really takes anywhere from 3-5 minutes of driving around for the light to come back on and I've made sure it isnt the e brake. Master cylinder is brand new and...

Dash Brake light comes on after a couple minutes of driving

Recently did a hydroboost conversion on my 90 v1500 suburban. Everything works as it should except the brake warning light on the dash comes on after like 3-4 minutes of driving. brakes feel firm and were bled after the install. The possible culprits I can think of: 1. I'm having is the pump...

    Exhaust options for nv4500 swap

I’m on the process of hooking everything back up on my k30 after swapping from a th400 to an nv4500. With the advanced adapters bellhousing/clutch slave cylinder location, my old summit long tube headers don’t fit anymore. Thinking about switching back to manifolds but wondering what everyone...

    TBI Cam recomendations

To make a long story short, Went looking for a ticking noise that I thought was an exhaust leak and turned out to be lifters. After attempting to adjust them (turn the nut until the pushrod cant spin and then 1/2 turn) I realized that my lifters are probably on the way out (pushrods kept...
