whats every body using.. looking for a new stereo head unit

Amazingly my dash wasn’t butchered, so I went with the middle RetroSound unit. So far so good, Bluetooth works and it’s plenty loud enough for me. It appears stock.

    Ignition control module dwell programming

I had to dig around but knew I still had it…. I’ve got the advance timing light around here also. I didn’t need the dwell function, using the tach works well though when tuning.

    Engine oil lines.

Lots of info out there on those old big blocks with those fittings. Small plugs (like freeze plugs) or tapping them for threaded fittings was usual way back in the day.

    Engine oil lines.

I’d just plug them… Read the post I quoted. Do you plan on hauling heavy loads etc…? Plug ‘em.

    Let’s see your memorabilia?!

I’ve got several wrenches that were my grandpa’s, they’re worn smooth. My father who is 88 has a bunch of them also, I’ll probably be going through them this summer. I don’t use them, they just reside in a drawer of my tool box.

Precision windshield gasket, self locking or lock strip?

I have a guy who has done glass for me for several years but it seems he’s got family issues and can’t get back to me. I’ll at least get the seals in, I did trim and smooth up both front & rear pinch welds, and the dash and headliner haven’t been installed yet either. I’ve got word out I need...

    Let’s see your memorabilia?!

When I was a kid my grandpa was a truck driver, those tire and Mack Bull dog ash trays were in his home. Don’t know what ever happened to them.

    Early 4.3 upgrade?

Wow! Great info here I never knew about the 4.3. I remember way back when it first came out in the S10 trucks. It was supposedly a V8 with two less cylinders design. That engine was a tire burner in those little trucks.

Precision windshield gasket, self locking or lock strip?

Yes, I’ve been on their site and spoke with them on the phone… just wanted some input from someone that wasn’t an actual “Glass” installation guy. :) It looks like I’ll be doing this my self, ordered the lock strip seal.

    Which aftermarket LED headlights?

Mine are the round 7”, so I bought some really cheap ones off of Amazon just to get the front end mocked up while reassembling the entire truck. They don’t look bad. I’ll probably install the RMS units eventually once I start driving it.

Precision windshield gasket, self locking or lock strip?

The Precision website shows two types of gaskets, self locking or lock strip. I’m familiar with the lock strip, though I haven’t installed one in decades. Anyone use the self locking gasket? If so how did it install?

Stock fuel pump has a vent line. Edelbrock don’t.

This is a Napa Gold fuel pump. Notice the return line restriction, I can’t say I’ve ever noticed this before.
