Amazingly my dash wasn’t butchered, so I went with the middle RetroSound unit. So far so good, Bluetooth works and it’s plenty loud enough for me.
It appears stock.
I had to dig around but knew I still had it…. I’ve got the advance timing light around here also.
I didn’t need the dwell function, using the tach works well though when tuning.
The LED front sidemarker light fixtures from LMC work, flashing properly when connected properly.

Lots of info out there on those old big blocks with those fittings.
Small plugs (like freeze plugs) or tapping them for threaded fittings was usual way back in the day.
Mark V GM big block
Those fittings will come out of the block, there’s a bypass spring involved.

Welcome!
Thanks for the pic, so many new folks don’t include one.
Good looking truck, great start for a project.
I had one just like it way back when, it was “Plain Jane” bought it from a church.
I’ve got several wrenches that were my grandpa’s, they’re worn smooth.
My father who is 88 has a bunch of them also, I’ll probably be going through them this summer.
I don’t use them, they just reside in a drawer of my tool box.
I have a guy who has done glass for me for several years but it seems he’s got family issues and can’t get back to me.
I’ll at least get the seals in, I did trim and smooth up both front & rear pinch welds, and the dash and headliner haven’t been installed yet either.
I’ve got word out I need...
Wow! Great info here I never knew about the 4.3.
I remember way back when it first came out in the S10 trucks. It was supposedly a V8 with two less cylinders design.
That engine was a tire burner in those little trucks.
Yes, I’ve been on their site and spoke with them on the phone… just wanted some input from someone that wasn’t an actual “Glass” installation guy. :)
It looks like I’ll be doing this my self, ordered the lock strip seal.
Mine are the round 7”, so I bought some really cheap ones off of Amazon just to get the front end mocked up while reassembling the entire truck.
They don’t look bad.
I’ll probably install the RMS units eventually once I start driving it.
The Precision website shows two types of gaskets, self locking or lock strip.
I’m familiar with the lock strip, though I haven’t installed one in decades.
Anyone use the self locking gasket? If so how did it install?
