What new tools have you got lately?

I’ve got the kobalt version, and it has changed my world lol.

Kobalt vs dewalt for a sawzall

I have one nearby, and I have the app on my phone so I check in from time to time to see if they have any deals on something I need. I’ll take a look and see what they have.

Kobalt vs dewalt for a sawzall

I’ve had good luck so far with my 1/2” impact and weedeater/blower combo from kobalt. It may just be that though, luck.

Kobalt vs dewalt for a sawzall

Same here, in my experience with gas saws.

Kobalt vs dewalt for a sawzall

Interesting z I’ve seen that same complaint across the dewalt and kobalt. Part of me wonders if it’s a defect, and part of me wonders if it’s just first time saw owners that don’t know any better.

Kobalt vs dewalt for a sawzall

That’s good to know. I’d like to pick up a saw and battery combo since i already have several dewalt tools. One more battery is always good.

Kobalt vs dewalt for a sawzall

Ive read a bunch of reviews that mentioned the oil reservoir leaking a ton when it’s sitting. What’s been your experience with that? That’s probably the only complaint I’ve seen, other than the odd bad unit out of the box here and there.

What new tools have you got lately?

I picked up a Klein pass through socket set over the weekend. It feels like good quality, even though it’s a small set and I didn’t really need the pass through lol. I’m looking at their wrench sets and impact sockets too. Thinking about buying some new stuff and giving my older sockets and...

Kobalt vs dewalt for a sawzall

I ended up with the dewalt, and I’ve been very happy with it. It’s a hoss that has cut anything I needed. It eats batteries, but I’ve got three now for it so it’s not a big deal. I’m now in the market for a battery chainsaw, and once again it’s between kobalt and dewalt. Dewalt will probably get...

    Power tool storage

I was gifted the Klein modbox last Christmas. Holy cow, this thing is awesome. I got the basic three box set, and then I added an extra storage bin for screws. It performs the same function as the husky setup, but it has more room and way more options for expansion. I’ll get some pics later this...

    Mud Tires

In high school you say? Super swamped TSL or boggers all the way. But I’ve been out of high school for a minute. Do people still buy boggers lol

    2001 Silverado advice

You are correct sir, I’m not a more power kinda guy. Tuning an engine for hours on end to make the new parts work does not appeal to me at all. I’m a plug and play kinda guy.

    2001 Silverado advice

Well, the body is solid, the only rust is the the rear bumper. Years of dirt and junk piling up in there took its toll. The body does have several dents, it was bought for farm use after all. Cows don’t really care about your paint job when they come running up on a wet day. They’ll just slide...

    2001 Silverado advice

Yea that’s my thought the deeper we get. Dad can get the gaskets for $110, plus $500 to have the heads worked. Much better than 5k.

    2001 Silverado advice

In my mind it means we caught it and parked the truck before it overheated and caused more damage. I floated the idea to dad of just doing head gaskets ourselves, but he pointed out that we’d still have a tired engine. And I pointed out that even if we put in a new engine, we still have a worn...

    2001 Silverado advice

Yea my next concern was the transmission, I know it’s on borrowed time. I also know that the truck itself is worth next to nothing. But it’s always been good to us, and this is the first ever breakdown that it’s had. It’s still on the factory shocks as far as I know. It’s only ever needed tires...

    2001 Silverado advice

I think I’ve mentioned this truck here before. It’s a pewter 2001 Silverado, single cab short bed 2wd. My grandpa bought it new, and we’ve kept it in the family. Strip down model, only real options are gov lock rear diff, 4.8 v8 and auto transmission. Rubber floors, manual locks and windows, and...

    Father / Son project K10

My piece of advice is keep everything forever. I sold or traded everything, including a set of bed sides and a perfectly straight tailgate. Then my truck was wrecked and now I need to source those parts all over again…

    GMT 400 W/T

You know, you’re right. And that’s why I like y’all, you’re down to earth and realistic about these sorts of things. The last thing I need right now is a time/money pit and another headache. Thanks for steering me straight lol.

    GMT 400 W/T

I keep thinking about this thing. My son just turned 10, and he likes the body style of these truck. Might be something we can get fixed together, and be a first truck for him. So, has anyone ever pulled a 4.3 and swapped a 5.7 in one of these trucks? I can’t imagine there would be a tone of...

Are OE lug studs long enough? 77 C10

I’ve had a few sets of aluminum wheels pass through my hands. Each set I was tempted into putting on my square, and each set got passed on to the next guy because there was no way I was putting new studs all the way around just for that. So I’ve always stuck with factory steel wheels. Anyway...

Desperately look for this trim piece

Interesting. Mines a custom deluxe. Strange that it has this strip, the only other chrome is the grill and headlight surrounds. Just seems random.

Desperately look for this trim piece

Yea. Like I said, he’s cheap lol. So, the idea was to order a strip down model except for the 350, the gauge package, four wheel drive, dual exhaust, and the big tire package. You know, the essentials. Then add AC, a radio and dome light to save money. He said the funny thing is that he spent...
