Brake upgrade using GM parts bin...

Wildwood has a D52 brake system it has dual piston calipers. It should give some better clamping force and more even pad wear. According to Summit it should fit 2 wheel drive trucks. I agree with the statement that the stock brake system is sufficient for daily drivers.

LMC truck has the wrong window regulator rollers....

My window regulator broke again. I used a whole new assembly. I've come to hate these trucks power windows. The one roller pulled out of the bracket when I installed it. So much for a new assembly. I think the attachment points for the regulator are tweaked. GM gave us so much room to work on...

    Nice squarebody on BaT

My 85 K-10 has dual 20-gallon tanks. I am in the process of replacing the pass. side. I removed it a few months ago. Now I am waiting on better weather. I wonder if they were part of the Sequoia Special YH6 option?

What have you done to your square lately??

I performed some basic daily driver maintenance this weekend. I gave her a much-needed oil change. I filled it up with Shell Rotella 15-40 and a Wix filter. Replaced the wipers with new 18" ones. I couldn't believe the price for wipers. I paid $ 14 each. They went up to $40 each Ouch! I...

How do I bench test my auto locking hub?

I think the little pin shears off which causes them not to lock. It's not bad rebuilding them especially now that its off the truck.

    Emissions question

I think the heavier trucks were emission exempt. Does the truck still have the emission label decal under the hood on the core support? It would show what the truck had installed at the time it was built. Your statement about the truck not having the emission equipment on it, do you mean it...

LMC AC controller has too many detents

I think the bottom one is for a later model truck. 80's version. It matters on the vacuum switch where all the lines come in that run to the plenum doors.

Installing a New Exhaust System Including Headers

Here are the summit headers on my truck. It's close but they clear. I am calling BS on the statement that headers don't increase torque. Long tubes always increase torque in every build I've seen. Shorties and mid lengths usually cost some torque. They do add horsepower at the top end. I can't...

Header clearance front shackle 86 k10

Here are the pics. I don't have the bars running from the tranny bell housing to the motor mounts. Not sure how they fit if you have those.

    AC Conversion Questions

I think the green O rings are compatible with R 134. Thats the ones I have used and have not had any problems. I'm not sure on the orifice tube. I just put in the severe duty one. It seems to work fine here in SE Texas.

    Looking At A 2005 Z71 4x4

The problem area with these trucks are the front wheel bearings, the front cover seal, the head gaskets if it's an iron block with aluminum heads, and the knock sensors. The bearings can go out with no warning, sometimes they will clunk when making a tight turn. The seals on the timing cover...

Black Bull also makes some nice bumpers. They are pricey.

    Splash Shields?

They get broken, and the rubber wears out. The cab ones are just plastic they crack were the screw clips attach. I'm not sure why the put the cab shields on the trucks. They seem to collect dirt which turns to mud. I replaced them, because of the high water we get here in the Houston area.

Why doesn't anyone use the Chevy "Connect & Cruise" packages?

They are designed for the shop builds that cost $$$. They are easy for them to put in a project and are guaranteed a good result.

    1999 454 carb swap. best street carb, 600? 650? 750? CFM

Ford had to add port injectors to its Eco boost DI engines. Why? Carbon builds up. Most of the race shops are adding a second fuel system and port injectors on the newer DI engines like the LT's. It much simpler than trying to get more fuel out of the engine driven pumps. I think we have...

    Aux battery for audio

Thats a good electrical system you have there, but how does it do if the truck isn't running? How long will your only battery last , and still start the truck? Just saying.

What have you done to your square lately??

Wow we are back in the mid 90's with all this TPI talk. There was group of us with Camaros that ran all around the Houston area street racing. We all built them differently. One was a Accel super ram, one was a SLP type ( I can't remember the name), I had the Arizona speed and marine runners...
