5.7nhigh millage what oil do you use?
The shop that did my rear main and replaced the oil pan on my 87 with a 74 5.7 in it used 20W-50. Hot climate here in So FL. most of the year. A very few days with 50-60 at the coldest. Seems to run good with the 20W-50 in it. I was wondering what oil to use also going forward. Truck has a...- JT58

Rear end advice
Yep, just clean around it, pop the cover off, change the fluid, new gasket, refill. I did that on my 87 and had extra work- the re-fill plug hex was stripped. Fluid was never changed in I don't know how many miles. I had to drill it out. Fluid was so bad I had to change it, clean the diff...- JT58

3K is pretty good for paint. Around here I am sure it would be at least 6K if not more for average paint job. I'm going to do as much as I can on the undercarriage and in the engine compartment. Sanding and painting the axles now. The front inner fender wells are next. Will remove them...- JT58

Thanks but I like the current clean look of the truck. I wanted a drop in under the rail bed liner for the truck, could not find one anywhere nobody makes it, discontinued so we sanded the entire bed, primed and did the bed liner paint ourselves.
