    The problem you describe is it's a NV4500. I got two of them. One I just rebuilt with premium parts and mic'd every dimension. It sounds like a bucket of bolts, no different than the worn out 4500 it replaced. It will be most noticable in 4th gear when the countershaft is spinning freely making...

    The constant slamming thru the drivetrain when turning. It was actually difficult to shift in turns because of the locking and unlocking of the differential. It wasn't noticeable when I had the automatic. I didn't know what to expect, I never had a locker before.

    Glad you found it. Most people don't realize that driveshaft angle changes under load. At 40 mph the drivetrain is under load just from the wind resistance. That's why it's usually set at about 3 degrees static and moves close to zero while driving. And before someone chimes in, driveshaft angle...

    what these studs for? A friend gave me this axel for my 73 K10 said it came out of a 73 blazer. Mine doesn't have these studs on it. I can't seem find
