1990 serpentine setup in my 1986

Right on. I'm gonna see how well it does with 105 amp alternator, if it doesn't cut it, I'll get back with you on that. Do you happen to have any pictures of the rear support brace your using?

1990 serpentine setup in my 1986

That's way cool, as a matter of fact, the alternator I was running before was a larger 120amp CS130 that I bought about a year ago. I was thinking I wasn't gonna be able to use it anymore, so this sound like something I'd be interested in. What's the ticket on those?

1990 serpentine setup in my 1986

Aww man, you got a clean setup there. I drove my truck around yesterday, it seems like there's not the drag it had before, maybe cause I don't have the smog pump on. Unfortunately here in AZ, I have to have the smog equip to pass the visual inspection, it sucks balls. I tried to get my existing...

1990 serpentine setup in my 1986

Done, just have to move over the a/c wiring to the other side. I started it up and its working really good! The biggest PITA was swapping the A/C pulley and clutch. I had to rent two different specialty tools to do it. But all in all, I'm very happy with the results. Oh, I couldn't get my smog...

1990 serpentine setup in my 1986

Well, I wrenched on it all day today, here's the bracket that I had to modify a bit. It bolts to the PS pump, alternator and exhaust manifold. I read that you can run it with out this bracket, but I decided to use at least on bolt with a spacer on the manifold anchor. I had to cut one off, I...

1990 serpentine setup in my 1986

Well, I got some progress done today, it is going a lot smoother than expected. I was able to use my existing steerling hoses with a little tweaking, I was able to fit in my existing R4 compressor with the same lines, just gotta swap out the pulleys. Anybody know anything about that, and can...

1990 serpentine setup in my 1986

I'm thinking about how to reroute the fuel line, from the pump to carb, because I'm seeing that it runs right where the pass side bracket goes on.

1990 serpentine setup in my 1986

I will be using my existing smog pump, just changing out the pulley. I didn't meant to cause confusion. The set up I have didn't come with a smog pump, but it does have provisions for it.

The setup I have has a provision for a smog pump under the ac compressor.

    1991 Suburban Gearin

I have the exact same setup 350, 700r4, 3.73 gears from a 90 burb axles, and 35s. I ditched the original axles with 3.08s. After the axle swap I could swear It felt as if I got another 100 horses under the hood, and it climbs hills like nothing, and cruses effortlessly at 75-80 on the freeway...

1990 serpentine setup in my 1986

Its probably because the non smog or vortec serpentine set ups are the more desirable of the bunch. I had no choice in the matter, Arizona emissions suck.

1990 serpentine setup in my 1986

I figured it was a pretty good deal, being that I got all the accessories and ac lines, clutch fan etc, water pump etc.

1990 serpentine setup in my 1986

I finally got everything together and cleaned up. I'm gonna start the conversion tomorrow morning. I guess I'll be the first to do a documented detailed conversion while retaining the smog pump. I've read many write-ups on this project, but none with smog.

1990 serpentine setup in my 1986

I've been doing some research on the conversion. It seems that the passenger side lower bracket(smog pump area) will have to be trimmed, to clear the mechanical fuel pump. There's a lot of info on the conversion, but minimal info on the trimming of the bracket. Does anybody have any info on this?

1990 serpentine setup in my 1986

I while back, I had a serpentine setup up off a 1989 C3500 454 engine, and it had a smog pump, and I remeber it was very similar to one I currently have on my 86, except for the pulley and the valve had a couple wires going to it. Was wondering if maybe that one would work out.

1990 serpentine setup in my 1986

Well, I finally found a serpentine system I wanted for a long time now. I found a 1990 C1500 at the wrecker yard, and I pulled the serpentine setup off of it. I Got the whole thing with all the accessories for $150. The reason I went with the 1990, is because it has provision for the smog pump...

    supercharging your truck for cheap

Actually, earlier today I was kinda bored with some time on my hands. I started googling supercharging a SBC, and GMSB came up as one of the links. I was really really looking to learn something about it, for reals! I started into it, and just couldn't stop reading. Couldn't resist going for the...

    Steering hydro assist

The reason I ask is, I'd love to tighten up my steering. My truck has every steering component brand new, from ball joints to tie rods to wheel bearings, and gear box. and it has the proper drop pitman arm, and raised steering arm, dual steering stabilizers, and I'm still not satisfied with the...

    Steering hydro assist

This is exactly what I meant, except for the crossover set up. Adding the ram to the stock steering configuration set up that solid axle squares come with.

Not exactly, I meant hydraulic ram assisting the existing steering system.

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

Back in 2012 when I hade the engine rebuilt, I had no idea the carb would need a tuning, and the shop that did the work never mentioned it to me. I've always relied on other people to make sure my trucks are running good. Its like they say, "if you want something done right, do gotta do it...
