I can't run my trucks across town for $30 like others are doing. I charge $35-45 for unlocks and jumps $30 dollies or skates or go jacks. I...

Tow Trucks, Wreckers and Car Hauler Discussion

I had back window shot out of my truck reposing one night while I was Doing a repo. Bullet went through back glass and out drivers door glass while I was behind the wheel. That is a sound I prefer to never hear again. Police wouldn't let me file charges eather since they didn't see it happen...

    14 bolt lengths

One ton cab and chassis had the backing plate right against the springs. It's a chore to get in to bleed the brakes on them. Single wheel ones had ample room to get in there to bleed brakes.

I use a sling quite frequent on customer tows. Many years ago I towed everything with a sling including corvettes. Hardest part to towing a vette with a sling is knocking the owner unconscious while you do it lol. I don't think I got my first wheellift till around 2000. I slung everything till...

Yea I miss working accidents and police impounds myself, was great money. Plus get to interact with law enforcement. Only part I didn't like was the serious crash cleanup where you know someone got hurt bad. There was one up the road a few days ago that was a triple fatal a massive combine...

Dont be so hard on yourself, I'm a fat middle age tow truck driver myself and know where you are coming from. Just keep your head up you seem like a fairly smart guy...

    Hello

welcome !!! My brother has a crew with the 5.9 cummins in it. Real sweet setup to go with. It's a pulling machine. I have been considering the 6.6 duramax swap in mine. I don't pull much with mine anymore. Depending on what you plan on using your truck for as to which way to go. I'd do cummins...

Tow Trucks, Wreckers and Car Hauler Discussion

Yea I just talked to a guy about a brigadier with a W45 Holmes tandem axle. I think I could do most recoverys with a old mechanical truck. If nothing else it would lighten the load on old red. I also bet if I had a bigger wrecker I could find more big trucks for scrap if nothing else...

I had about $4k in engine build 10 years ago. This is the 3rd truck it's been in. Originally in a 86 K30 wrecker with a 1100 Holmes that burnt...
