    Questions about TBI

Call a couple of the cam manufactors and tell them what you have (TBI) and ask about the largest cam they would reccomend. Install it with the top end rebuild. Put a set of 373 gears and you'll be good to go.

    Questions about TBI

As long as the cam you choose doesn't affect the vacuum to much you will probably be ok on the reflash. I'm not sure I would agree that the FI is more reliable than the carb though. I've seen some very old carbs that still run great.

    Injection or carb

FI's are great for cold starting, never have to touch the throttle, runs good when driving cold. A carb with a properly set up choke works well also. The only thing is that you have to pump it before starting to set the fast idle. Wouldn't do much good to install a remote start. Lol.

    Oil pan gasket??

The engine that came out of my 92 had the number in the same place. It had a 7 or 8 digit number .

I agree. That's why my 92 looks like this. http://www.holley.com/VirtualShow/chevy/silverado/2607.asp

I can understand doing away with the emission test on an older vehicle. I'm not sure I understand doing away with a safety test on a 35 year old vehicle though. Seems that would be when they needed it the most.

    Headers...plug n play???

There are several types of headers for your ride. If you want "plug and play", you will need shorty heders. Most any headers are going to make the spark plugs a little harder to change. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/snh-cc3-p/overview/year/1986/make/chevrolet/model/k10 Here is one example...

If you don't have to wory about emission tests, I would get rid of everything but what I needed. Vacuum to brake booster. Vacuum to dizzy. Accel cable. TV cable to trans.

Welcome to the forum Stu. On the right hand steer, is your clutch pedal on the right or left side of the column?

    High beams won't switch off?

This would be my guess also. Might also need adjusting.

    K20 front driveshaft U-joints

You can heat them until the glue squirts out of the little hole and the they will come apart. You can also place the cap on a socket or piece of metal and use a 3 or 4 lb hammer and drive them out. Place the joint cap on metal and hit as close to the joint cap as possible. Sometimes you have to...

    Rear end code

Sorry for the bad info Davie. Looks like the answers were here after all.

    Rear end code

I'm not 100% sure but I think it should be a 10 bolt, 8.5 ring gear, with a 3.08 ratio. Assuming it's the original housing. There should be a couple of #'s on the pumpkin also.

    Rear end code

I think those are the assy stamp for the date and assy plant. Do you have a RPO sticker on the left door or in the glove box? It will look like the one at the top of the link I posted.

    Rear end code

Where did you get those numbers from. Rear end codes should start with a G, F, or H. Should be something like GU4, G80.http://www.sierragear.com/gm-rpo-axle-ratio-identification-codes-3/

    Exhaust Exit

I'm around 425 hp. No H-pipe. I took mine to Meineke and had the exhaust custom made. There were no kits available for true duals for my truck. The fuel tank is on the left side so they made the left pipe crossover at a 45 degree angle right past the cross member.

Here is a little write up on a bogging issue. It explains a condition that might be your problem. It's a good read either way. http://ericpetersautos.com/2012/10/22/adjusting-a-quadrajets-secondaries/

    carburators

I think I would try upping the pressure to about 8 psi and see if it helps any. It's kind of strange that both carbs do the same thing. Think I would also check for vacuum leaks.
