fuel vent issue stumped need help

I think that is exactly what happened. I did have to clean the plugs as they were carbon fouled after all the flooding. I've driven it to work 2 days this week and so far so good.

fuel vent issue stumped need help

I can live with the occasional dieseling. I think it was from the over-rich condition. But opening the cap on the gas tank and having a couple gallons of gas pour out is pretty hair raising. I drove it 10 miles after fixing it without a problem. I am going home tonight to drive it again to make...

fuel vent issue stumped need help

Well... it ended up being the tank selector valve. My guess is that it was partially switching or leaking internally. A 69$ injection and couple hours on the shop floor and it runs good again.

fuel vent issue stumped need help

I've been trying to diagnose a issue that has steadily been getting worse. 1985 c10 with the 5.0 and only 37000 original miles. It is bone stock. It started out as dieseling when you shut the truck off, but now it tried to strand me yesterday. It bogged down and died coming home from work. Got...

    Let's talk oil

Just an update. Went back to Super Tech 15w-40 2weeks ago. So far the oil leak has completely stopped but its too early to gauge the consumption. I think I am sticking to conventional in my older vehicles and the synthetics in the newer ones built for it.

    Let's talk oil

I used Rotella T4 and or Super Tech 15w40 Diesel oil up to the last oil change. No oil or burning and had a very minor drip in garage every now and then. Switched this last change to Rotella synthetic blend T5 10w30. Truck used some oil and the minor drip turned into an oil leak. I had always...

Miss, bogg, stutter whatever you like

Don't mean to insult, but did you adjust your accelerator pump when you rebuilt carb? Mine stutters on the lower factory setting but likes the higher one.

    Strong gas odor

I rebuilt my carb couple years ago, but managed to pinch the gasket where the fuel filter is in the side of the carb and didn't catch it. It didn't leak for a year or more, but started this summer. Kept smelling gas but didn't see an obvious leak. Long story short, had to feel under the fuel...

    Trans fluid change

While I am a big fan of regularly changing the tranny fluid, with the 700r4 I think the properly adjusted cable gives a firm first second shift. Someone might correct me. I would rather have a firm shift than a sloppy slippy soft one.

    Cleaning Factory Cloth Seats?

Most carpet machines that use a vacuum to extract the water use a cleaner that is good for upholstery. I have used it on several cars in the past with good results.

    Convenional vs Synthetic

I've run diesel oil for years in my older gas engines. It has higher detergent levels and higher zinc than today's oil for gasoline engines.

    Convenional vs Synthetic

I'm running T5 10w30 in both my square and my f250 diesel. Diesel likes it but the square is using a little and didn't use any on the dino 15w40. Truck is very low mileage so I don't think that is the problem.

    85 Silverado door trim

Thanks for responding, yes, the molding about 2/3 down on the side of the door. It looks like chrome plated plastic? So... its not glued on? The molding on the bottom of the page is like mine. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=131

    85 Silverado door trim

One of my pieces of trim is trying to come unglued from the door. I assume its on with double sided tape? What is the best way to keep it attached? I really don't want to take the whole thing off and start over with it. Can the loose spot be re-glued or attached? I thought about 3m weatherstrip...

    mileage question

My 85 gets 14-15 on commute to work with some 2 lane hwy and some city combined. It is bone stock but i rebuilt the QJ when I first got it. The initial timing is supposed to be 4 on mine but I have it on 8 degrees.

Hey Thomas, would like to see pics of your truck. I too bought one last Nov. with 19000 miles on it. I have been using it as a daily driver as long as it doesn't rain, then I revert to my old truck.
