    Heavy vibration at highway speed under load

    Bad motor mounts will create an odd driveline angle that can cause a vibration. I would start there. The rotational slop in the driveshaft is probably worn spider gears and cross shaft, especially if you have been doing burnouts all over town.

    Pull the vacuum and check it again. The vac adance skewed your numbers. It'll probably smooth out after you readjust.

    The residue you are feeling is normal condensation under the valve cover. You're not losing coolant and you have decent compression and it runs fine 90% of the time. You don't have a head gasket issue. I would clean the egr valve and check the fuel psi..

    The OD ratios in the newer 6, 8 and 10 speeds are not much higher than what was offered in the 80s. I'm not here to argue but turning 3k at 70 is far from useless and is acceptable.

    Having done this job several times before, I recommend pulling the motor. It's only a few more bolts, and working bent over the fenders/cowl is such a PITA.

    I wouldn't over think this one. Replacing radiator hoses used to be very common. I would replace the hose and move on.

    If you haven't tuned the new edelbrock you are leaving a lot of power and mileage on the table. Also timing with vacuum advance will make a big difference.

    Summit branded parts are usually very poor quality. I have had luck using a ratchet strap to pull on headers to move them around. Just beware that the shaft will move around in every direction, not just up and down.

    I find the cheap ones do the bigger stuff ok but make a mess of anything smaller than 12-14 gauge. You really need a good welder for body work.

    I would stand that bed up and sandblast it. It will clean up fast. I wouldn't worry about warping it. That rust will blown right off.

    If the studs were pulling out there would definitely be some new valvetrain noise along with it. I believe you are seeing the effects of mass produced parts.
