    Burning hei coils

I accidentally left this ground strap off once on a Firebird years ago and got the same coil burning problem, didn't take long. I'll try to attach pics. One end of this ground strap goes down and becomes one of the three tabs that the wire connector plugs into. As I remember this strap...

Which posi unit do you like?

Thanks much for the info. That's prob the one I'll go with. Several others like it as well. I was looking at the Jegs clutch unit with the yellow springs but the Yukon is cheaper and if it's holding up for you guys it will work fine for me.

Which posi unit do you like?

I'm restoring a 78 C10, it will never be raced but I want to go back with a posi. It has the stock 12 bolt with I believe 3:07 ratio. There's so many different units out there I'm just curious as to what some of you are running and how smooth they operate. I'm looking at Eaton Truetrac, Jegs...

Who sells Torx style door strikers?

I've done a lot of searching and can't find new original style door strikers that take Torx to tighten. All I see are the Allen head style. I know both will work but I want to stay with Torx if at all possible. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Adding AC after ls swap

I see this is a week or so old but here's the bracket that I went with to retain a factory LS truck compressor relocated to the top: It's from ICT Billet. Just note: You don't have to run the idler pulley that's in the pic at the top. You do have to buy a different pulley for the...

    Panel Gaps/ Body alignment

I'm doing the same thing on my 78. Where the hinges bolt to the cab there should be enough adjustment to move the door towards the rear. I hope you have at least one helper, it makes it a lot easier.

I had a 73 with CCOT sytem also, I think POA was the previous body style.

Anyone leave their door springs off on purpose?

Thanks. I did mean grease the rollers while using the springs. I ground off the end of the roller shafts and removed them so I could blast the hinges and clean/grease them up good. I replaced the wave washers on the rollers with some I found at Mcmaster Carr since some were in pieces. I just...

Anyone leave their door springs off on purpose?

I just got done rebuilding my door hinges using oversize bushings and new pins. My replacement doors are near perfect with no cracks around the door hinge area. My old doors had cracks around the door hinge area. I'm thinking about leaving the S springs off so the doors won't have the...

Anybody know the size of the factory sport mirrors?

Well, I got the AMD sport mirror in and it measures much smaller than the advertised 5x8 so I guess it's the factory size which is fine. I have a set of the "dumbo's" and they measure 6 1/2 x 9". I'm checking into the 67-72 mirrors now.

Windshield seal/rubber replacement. is there a preferred brand or is all the same?

I see this is a couple of months old but Summit Racing carries a lot of the Precision rubber seals.

Anybody know the size of the factory sport mirrors?

I decided to go with factory "sport" mirrors, I believe they're called D49 option mirrors. One vendor states the mirror head is 5 3/4 x 4 1/2" (this may be the factory size). However, AMD has some that states theirs is approx 5" x 8" which is larger and I like that better. Can somebody...

Do you remember what name was on the box? I'm thinking there may only be one place making them and distributing them out.

    Mirror quality question

Yes, it surely sux. I originally wanted to use the "dumbo" mounts with the 97 Dodge power mirrors (that look similar) But even being electric and adjustable when you close the door the whole thing would prob still move. I'm leaning to going to the small "sport" mirrors that some came with...

    Mirror quality question

Thanks for the reply. I didn't see any part logo since I ordered from Summit Racing. These aren't really all that bad and I would run them on anything other than this particular truck. I've looked at many other options but don't really like any.
