Anybody know the size of the factory sport mirrors?

I decided to go with factory "sport" mirrors, I believe they're called D49 option mirrors. One vendor states the mirror head is 5 3/4 x 4 1/2" (this may be the factory size). However, AMD has some that states theirs is approx 5" x 8" which is larger and I like that better. Can somebody please measure a factory one (not aftermarket) and report back? I would rather go with the larger one but I'm curious as to what the OEM size is. Thanks.

The 5x8 size would be the bigger mirrors, commonly referred to as the "dumbo" mirrors. The "sport" mirrors are the smaller ones and were standard equipment on the 1/2 tons in most years.

There is one additional option to consider and that is the 67-72 Sport Mirror. It is just a tad bigger than the Squarebody sport mirror.

Well, I got the AMD sport mirror in and it measures much smaller than the advertised 5x8 so I guess it's the factory size which is fine. I have a set of the "dumbo's" and they measure 6 1/2 x 9". I'm checking into the 67-72 mirrors now.

I believe the 67-72 have a different mount pattern and the base is a little different. Some don't like the base but if you Google, you'll find some square's where people went with them.
