Thanks! That's the color it was when granddad drove it off the lot in 1980... I was with him! I have looked under the truck and there's only some surface rust from sitting - but it was in the garage all the time. Why haven't I looked already - Great Question! I travel a lot for work and...

Old man constantly asked to drop his truck.Any stock height C10s left in the world??

First - Great looking Truck! Looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Second - my 1980 is stock height. I've never been a fan of lowering trucks. If it was a 4x4 I might want to raise it a little, but as a 2WD no need.

    Old Bedliners

Hey y'all! My truck has this old bedliner in it. (I inherited it from my Grandpa this way.) It's been in there about 20 years or more. It's very functional, but I worry and wonder if it's damaging the old bed underneath more than it protects it. Has anyone ever had one of these and is it a...

What have you done to your square lately??

Replaced the old dim rusty headlights with new Silverstars. I’m also having trouble with the passenger side turn signal/parking light. The turn signal works. Flashers work. But just having the light on doesn’t. I’ve changed the bulb too. Any idea what the problem is?

Advice on Transmission Fluid Change for 1980 C10

Wouldn't surprise me to find out that my granddad or uncle at least changed the pan. I can hear them grumbling now about why would some engineer remove the drain plug ##$%$#... Thanks for the places to look. Hopefully it isn't too bad.

Advice on Transmission Fluid Change for 1980 C10

Well, there were a couple and I wasn't sure That was one of my guesses Good to know. After filling it back up with fluid, it ran and shifts fine. I probably won't rebuild unless I have to. That said, it appears to be leaking quite a bit, that's why it was low I guess. Now to find out where...

    Replace Gauge Needle

Hey! I pulled the clear plastic cover off the gauges thinking that I would clean it. Turns out that after 45 years, it's actually scratched and yellowed, it's not just dirty. lol. Anyway I looking at the actual gauge faces and just barley touched the needle on the fuel gauge and it fell off...

Alright! Got the brakes working and she's roadworthy - sorta. After replacing the master cylinder, I ended up bleeding the brakes alone using the tube into a jar trick. It also allowed me to flush out about a pint of dirty and nasty stuff. I just kept pumping until the fluid coming out was...

Advice on Transmission Fluid Change for 1980 C10

It's never been rebuilt. It has always run fine. In fact, it's still driving okay right now, I just noticed it was low and thought I'd proactively do a little maintenance instead of just adding a quart and moving on. It probably has a small leak and over the last 15 years has gotten low while...

Advice on Rear Differential Leak for 1980 C10

Hey everyone, I’m in the process of getting my 1980 Chevy C10 back on the road after it sat in storage for about 15 years. The truck was my grandfather’s, and I’m aiming to keep it as original as possible. While I was under it recently, I noticed what looks like a small leak around the rear...

Advice on Transmission Fluid Change for 1980 C10

Hey everyone, I'm working on bringing my 1980 Chevy C10 back to life after it sat in a garage for around 15 years. The truck was my grandfather's and is all original, so I'm trying to keep things as close to factory as possible. I've got the engine running smoothly, but when I checked the...

    1980 C10 Owner

Hi There! I just joined and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm restoring my grandfather's 1980 C10. It's a slow project as I'm out of town a lot for work. It's been sitting in the garage for a decade so it needs to be gone through completely. Right now I just want to get it road worthy. I did...
