    Diagnostic port problem

Yup, use the paperclip. ALDL cables are good for deeper diagnosics, where you can sorta use the ECM as an engine analyzer.

    Tbi conversion questions

A later model 4l80e would be a smart investment, But I would recommend using a PCM and Harness from A 94-95 TBi 350, much better driveabilty, and more common than the 91 version.

Quite possibly the best day of my life.

Most swaps endure problems in the first year, unless you have a full, Uninterrupted 2 or so weeks to test and tune. Glad you got it figured out!

Jegs or Summit. go with the magnaflow magna packs if you are set on a glasspack style setup.

    500hp 350 carbureted and 700r4

Thats where the LS engines shine...the tall, narrow intake ports. Volume+velocity=yeeeeeehaaaaw!

    25 MPG Dreamin' ?

I replied. I think its possible, but really not worth the co$t. some are reporting 22 mpg with a healthy 6.2 I say as long as the engine is mechanically sound, gearing should be the focus. A gear spread that allows the engine to work less, will yeild more of what you are looking for, like a 6...

    Poor Man Valve Job

Cleaning is cleaning...who gives a fuck about the method, as long as it works. I stick shit in the oven, and put it on a 4 hour, 600* self cleaning cycle.

    Poor Man Valve Job

I would still consider lapping as cutting....polishing is just micro cutting. So yeah, anything for a better seal!

    Tbi conversion questions

A few wires(4 IIRC) come from the cavity on the drivers side. you have no choice but to go on the passenger side. For the truck to run carbed, you will have to open the 87 harness, and separate the charging and starting system wires, and leave them when you pull the fuel injection harness.

    gas mileage way down...

Yup...the throttle shafts are the first thing I do, then the well plugs...sometimes they are soo bad, its like dumping buckets of fuel in. Dip everything in a bigass pail of berrymans carb dip for a day, then blow out good with air. As far as the earlier lockups, just using the OE lockup...

    gas mileage way down...

And just a little extra side note here...OEM lockup in 3rd is usually set at 32 mph, and 4th set at 38MPH......may be worth a try, seeing as your engine has a little more poop to push the truck along. Is that Q jet rebuilt with those plugs sealed up?

    Tbi conversion questions

So, just to be clear: You already have a TBI engine with TBI injection unit, proper drivers side exhaust with o2 sensor provision, ESC module, MAP sensor, EGR and solenoid, Electronic distributor? If so, all you need is the TBI Harness, ECM, and the fuel pump relay on the firewall. I recommend...

    Fuel pressure regulator

Yeah...spray carb cleaner around EGr valve, vac lines, TBI base, int manifold to head surfaces, brake booster. Do you think you have a leak, or do you just want to check?

    500hp 350 carbureted and 700r4

yup...skip the crazy shit...just go 4l80e and be done.

"tryin to wake up that 6.2"

well...I would venture that a good porting job on the intake and exhaust side may help a bit, and maybe turning up the pump a little. Honestly, if it runs good, I would leave it alone, and look into gearing. Maybe stick with the 3.42s, and save some pennys for one of the newer transmissions...

    350 Engine upgrades

There should be a key activated shunt in your fuse box...just run off of one of those. with a fuse inline, of course.

    Fuel pressure regulator

If you are going to do all that, go ahead and pull the manifold and clean it, and replace the gaskets...that is, if you have not done so recently. You can chase vac leaks with propane or carb cleaner. Big propblem with TBI is usually the tBi base gasket its self.

    1987 air cleaner

Some of the later model lids used 2 wing nuts/rods as opposed to 1. its all in the lower spacer. Just clean out the old seal, and lay a 1/4" bead of clear RTV around it. Let it setup for about 2 hours, then coat the top lip of the base<wher the lid seals) with petroleum jelly, and snug the air...

    350 Engine upgrades

It will flow more, if more is fed to it...like from a fucking 13 liter turboed Cat engine. LOL...let those kids find out on their own, when they are spanked from a dead start by a c10 with a 250 I6, with single 2" exhaust.
  23. Jims86

    350 Engine upgrades

The funnel effect...the reduction speeds up the exhaust velocity, and the travelling pulses help evacuate the manifold quicker. Cylinder sees sort of a vacuum when the exhaust valve opens.

Oh yeah, and I buzzed it passed 5500 rpm quite a few times....kept pullin'!

    350 Engine upgrades

The o2 plugs into a round black plug withe the purple wire. The plug is identical to the timing plug that you separate to set the timing. Just have a bung welded in as close to the engine as possible. 3" is fine foor single exhaust. 2" up to 2.25" for duals on a 350.< thats from my personal...
