    What can cause a backfire?

I don't need it too soon... just got done putting a straight pipe in the dime... used those badass band clamps. Should be good for a Lil while. I'll hit you up when I'm doing the work dime. Need to remove the cat out of that.

    What can cause a backfire?

You're lucky... no good exhaust shops around here either. Meinike.... but they're poop. :D

    What can cause a backfire?

I totally agree... I discovered them working on diesels. So far, I can only find them in Napa though. . Not Advance or Autozone. Never checked Peps

    What can cause a backfire?

They both look like they have soot there before the mufflers... not shadow, to me.

    Just wee bit fustrated

Yes, that's fine...here's an easy guide using your photo. The basic settings for most vehicle testing: Voltage, ohms (checking resistance), and which ports to attach the leads. One of the 1st things to check is the battery voltage, before & after startup. You can use jumper wires to assist...

    Low battery / constant drain

X2 what Dave said^^ If you don't have an Amp clamp, use an incandescent test light. Disconnect the negative cable on the battery. Use the test light inline to connect the cable to the battery. At this point, the test light should be glowing bright... this is the draw... You are "seeing" it...

    What can cause a backfire?

Lean condition with fuel can cause exhaust backfire. In my cases, I've experienced that usually in acceleration though. Also timing issues such as too retarded. Another way to check for exhaust leaks is to jack it up, run it, and with a buddy... cover the tailpipe intermittently with a rag...

    Water Temp Question

The other thing I appreciate is the update or resolve to the issue. Too many threads or forums have cliffhangers. So kudos for that too. Although, you're a longterm member, so it's unlikely you'd leave a cliffhanger anyway.

    Cargo light issue

The white wire is the ground. This grounds the orange power through the bulbs. All you want to do is touch it to a good clean metal body surface. See if the bulbs light. Otherwise, there's a break in that white wire. Also. Close the doors when testing. Or only keep the one open that you...

    Cargo light issue

This connector could be the culprit if all else is working.. I read the OPs post too fast and missed where he had power some places... if in fact that is the case. If using a meter, couldve easily gotten a false positive, I think.

    Cargo light issue

Question: How are you verifying power to everything? In this case I'd use an incandescent test light connected to a good ground. Then verify you have a good ground by probing the fuse block or something "hot". You said you have power to both sides of the connection.... where? at the bulb...

    Cargo light issue

I'm quite sure the orange wire power feed all comes from the headlight switch. So it could be possible that the one pin or terminal is corroded. Then from there the courtesy lights are fused in the block below the steering colomn. I guess verify that at least there's power at the fuse block...

    Binding while turning

Trying looking for shiny wear/witness marks everywhere on the right side. Can you post pics of the uneven wear of the shoes? Maybe try jacking it up on 4 stands. Turn the wheel & lightly brake with a helper. Then go around turning wheels & look & feel for binding. ... Try it running & while off...

    Water Temp Question

Yeah, not bad at all. In fact most accessories can stay. After removing the top half of the shroud, I'll use cardboard to protect the fins on the radiator. I stick it in between the bottom shroud & flat against the rad. Sometimes working on the pump or bolts I tend to bounce back with my ratchet...

How about hoses? Because when rotting internally they can act like check valves. But then again only right turns.... hmmm

    700r4 Issues

Surprisingly, they have pretty good reviews from what I've found, so far. I only searched lightly, but will continue. The mistakes or mishaps that have happened thus far & still aren't corrected, like connector is just telling me otherwise.

    700r4 Issues

Yeah I agree with that statement. It's just easier to swap than having to use your brain to diagnose. Also less time for the most part... unless there's an external issue frying to components you're replacing. Smh

    700r4 Issues

So torque converter doesn't look plugged in. The trans connector has zero wires but has the terminals still attached. Was that photo taken of the trans itself? Or just the connector end dangling? The TV cable adjustment looks odd. Geometry looks good but it doesn't looked ratcheted at all. Then...

That's the problem. Finding a good trans shop somewhat local to him... cuz local isn't cutting it. Have you read the thread? This is now the 6th time visiting the trans shop in 2 YEARS! Opened up at least 4 or 5 of those times! Holy ish!! I agree, they can be great trannys........ when done right.
