    Venturi to increase exhaust?

Additional scavenging is done with a merge collector and/or an X-pipe - plus a correct length of pipe of the correct diameter after it. No need for further scavenging. The best work is done by headers scavenging the cylinders, unless the rest of the exhaust is built too small and/or restrictive...

    400 sbc cam choice

OP The Lunati 10120410 cam would be close to as large as I'd want for a truck and 407 ci, it'll work with your 4 speed. BUT , if you have the stock K10's 3.08 gears I wouldn't like them combined with your 35" tires at all ! (But 4th gear would feel like overdrive to me) You already know how...

10 bolt limited slip or upgrade to a 12b?

Use a support rear cover to protect against carrier bearing cap deflection. I used a stock Nova 10 bolt 8.5 and factory clutch posi ( C-clips 'n all) in our stock car and it saw tons of abuse too. Lightest rear axle I could use that would take it !

    4.10 to 4.56 or 4.88

4.88 ! My last K30 had a 350 ,4.56's, and 33's, and you could pull a steam roller in granny low & 2 High. Overdrive would've been perfect if I'd had one and cruised empty. It could carry a ton and nearly achieve 12 mpg doing it (11.7 - checked), once I ditched the pathetic Holley 600, (a 600...

    Marvel Mystery Oil

MMO in the oil every winter when the temps fall below 10 or 15 degrees, cuts the viscosity down and improves the flow ( for cold starts ). I'm sure it burns-off over time when used in the crankcase.

    Weighing options on a 76

If you've ruled-out the diesel then it'll be hard/impossible achieving power and mileage. Probably the best compromise then is a swirl-port or vortec headed 350 and an OD trans. Or perhaps a carbed 283/305/307 with headers a T350 trans and a light foot !

    Vortec heads- cold weather issues?

Yes, a stock iron Qjet intake.(early versions did) There are fittings on the adapter specifically for warming. I don't remember exactly how they're setup , and my '90 3+3 is gone - so I don't have a reference here.

Why does everyone dislike the 6.2 diesel?

My old '95 G20 came with an NA 6.5 with only a 3.08 rear gear , but the 4L60's first gear helped it move along pretty good off the line. It didn't like OD with all the weight it hauled unless you were at 75 mph or better, but a combined mileage avg of 18 mpg was double what I'd have had with a...

    Vortec heads- cold weather issues?

I had to skip to the end on this because I see that nobody thought of the late '80's bbc OEM tbi adapter that is made for plumbing and very inexpensive used. Sorry I can't post a pic , here's one but not necessarily cheap - I bought one for much less...

4 X 4 with 3/4 axles @ 4.56 can haul your buddy or yer wife outa the ditch - even if their truck is bigger. Infrequent use means the mileage difference just won't factor in. Have you bought it yet ? Pics ?
