What have you done to your square lately??

Haven't even seen mine in over a month let alone do anything to it since it's at our second home. It gets to earn its keep next weekend though. Time to get the boat out of winter storage. A 20 mile run empty and then 20 miles back with the boat.

    choke light issue

Sounds like that ground wire isn't making it to ground. Try grounding it to the engine to see if the light goes out, if so then the ground may need to go there instead of the carb.

    Carb Bog

If the motor likes that timing and doesn't detonate then go with it. It could be that the damper has slipped or you have the wrong timing pointer and that the timing isn't really that advanced.

What have you done to your square lately??

Keep a close eye on those lines for leaks. I think bad oil cooler hoses are what killed the engine in my truck before I bought it. One of the rod journals on the crank was so probably worn down 80 or 90 thousandths, I'm guessing it was because of low oil pressure. The entire underside of the...

    '87 Silverado V20 Issue. Fuel pump/rain???

I'm not sure about the pump problem but to properly use the fuel tank switch you have to hold the switch for 3-5 seconds for the valve to switch from one tank to the other. My valve was sticky so I cycled it back and forth with the ignition switch on run but without the engine running. I could...

how to check rotors and other questions.

I think a caliper would be the proper tool to measure the rotor thickness. I don't know the spec, I have seen some rotors with the min thickness cast into the rotor. For the rear shoes, the longer friction material one goes on the rear. I'm not sure how to measure a drum thickness. My...

    Starting Issues

The neutral safety switch is on the bottom of the column outside, on the top. I think the actual ignition switch is down there also and it is a rod that goes from the key to the switch but I'm not 100% certain.

    Fuel tank Selector Switch issue

Yeah, my switch broke as I was removing it from the dash. 28 year old plastic gets brittle. My pass side tank has a leak so I haven't worried about replacing the switch. My truck sits so much that I don't even fill up one tank since I don't want the gas to go bad.

    Fuel tank Selector Switch issue

The solenoid is on the passenger side frame rail under the cab. Don't have drop the tanks for the valve.

What have you done to your square lately??

Drove my square on Saturday. Had to adjust the base idle. I had adjusted the idle and choke when it was cold but now that it is warmer the choke was completely off and I had the base idle too low. Put a sliding rear window latch from the "Help" section of the auto parts store on. I...

    Bad pushrod

One good thing is that the debris from the pushrod would go down the oil drain back and get filtered out. A main bearing would tend to send debris on to a rod bearing or somewhere else through an oil supply passage and cause more trouble.

    Gauge Cluster Re-Pinning - HOW?

I haven't done it with any square wiring but have on modern stuff. There is a spring tab on the metal wire connector that holds it in place in the plastic connector housing. The one's Ive worked with, you have to remove a plastic inner cover on the connector side of the connector (as...

    Sliding Rear Window Restoration/Parts

Mine's in good shape except for the latch. Bought a new one in the "Help" section of the auto parts store. I've heard some negative reviews on this latch but right now mine has a plastic zip tie as a latch so for less than $10 it is worth a try to see if it lasts.

    85' K10 wont start

This won't be part of the no crank problem but once you get that sorted out you might have clogged the fuel filter when the tank ran dry. That's if you switched back to that tank after filling it.

What belt do I need to remove the air pump?

I can check what belt is on my truck next time I'm there. Might be a few weeks. Mine had dual pumps and all that stuff was removed.

    DBW benefits?

There are advantages from an OEM perspective like ice breakage, cruise control, high idle, brake over ride control. I'm not sure from an end user that there is an advantage. You'd have to get the electronic throttle controls removed from the ECM. They are very picky about Electronic pedal...

    Rubber seal

Those are sound insulation that came on the upper trim levels. Not required for sure but I don't know how much they help to keep noise out of the cab.
