What belt do I need to remove the air pump?

Since my air pump is not hooked up to anything anyway, I'd like to remove it completely. Anyone know what belt I need to use for the fan to alternator? I'll need the ribbed "wide" belt. Just curious what the length is. Using on a BBC if it matters...

I can check what belt is on my truck next time I'm there. Might be a few weeks. Mine had dual pumps and all that stuff was removed.

If it's still light out when I get home from work tomorrow, and if I remember, I'll check the # on mine. I know I've posted it once or twice here before, but I have no idea where it would have been.

just go to a parts store give them the year, motor, etc, and tell them no air pump. they will have a listing. highdesertranger

See I looked on rock auto and it didnt have anything without the air pump. I guess I'll just go grab a string and measure it.

Well I went out and measured, came back at right around 53" around the fan, alternator, and crank. I looked it up and did some cross-referencing and it looks like the '90 R/V3500 with the 7.4 did not use a vacuum pump and used a W belt at 53" to go around those three components. Looks like I've got a winner at 53"! I'm looking at going with a Gates K060525HD 53" heavy duty belt. Should do the trick...

some came factory without air pumps. I have never had a problem just saying no air pump at the parts store. at rock auto try a different year. highdesertranger

Nice thing about that HD belt is that its rated at 100,000miles+ I like the sound of that!

Ordered the belt from rockauto last night less then 10 bucks shipped!
