    Running lean on light throttle

Us old farts called it an off idle stumble. You young guys and your fancy gauges don't know what that means....LOL. You're on the right track with the Accelerator pump. It isn't the nozzles though. Its the adjustment of the pump arm to the pump diaphragm. By the book, the adjustment says that...

    Question about removing belts...

The only tensioners you have on the V-Belts is an "Armstrong" tensioner (depends how strong your arms are). You do one at a time starting with the inner most one. On things like the A/C compressor you'll have a 1/2" square drive hole for putting a 1/2" ratchet or breaker bar on it to put...

    Worn/cracked valve guide seals

I just did this procedure a month ago. That’s the same tool I have. It’s works perfectly fine but do yourself a favor and go to Lowes and pick up a bolt and washers that’s the same size as the bolt on the tool with the lever attached. You can unscrew the lever when you get to tight places like...

Bilstein ,Kyb monotube ,Belltech ....daily driving opinions

I have to agree. I got the impression based solely on manufacturer documents that the Monomax and the Bilstien 4600 were going to be really close. They're direct competition to each other. The Monomax was supposedly a little stiffer but with my oversize tires on a heavier Suburban, it made more...

Forgive my ignorance but I have to assume by the text that you're talking about a C and not a K??? If a C check out my thread from not that long ago..... https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/shocks-can-do-that.31538/

Exactly how mine looks right now.

    Cold Air Intake

I think the air filter itself would be smoothing any turbulence if there was any. The big thing is that it gets more than enough cool air from outside. I even cut off the cover on the air intake in the core support so it provides sort of a ram air effect at highway speeds. Have had zero issues...

    Fuel pump pushrod stuck??...

Wow....for the life of me, I just can't imagine how that's even possible.

    Shocks can do that?

I put new shocks on my truck this weekend and I wanted to post the results. First, let me say that my SUB has horrid handling. It bounces excessively, would sometimes jump over what seemed like several feet when the tires would get stuck in a groove in the pavement. It was like driving on old...

Electric motor to swap for SBC

Interesting thread. Several years ago I moved my daughter to San Francisco. Loaded up a U-Haul with all her stuff and a tow bar with her VW GTI and drove from Central FL to San Francisco. Just the two of us. Pretty cool trip. Anyway, after we got there and all her stuff unloaded and returned...

    Need a/c compressor

You probably have an A6 (long and heavy) or an R4 ( pancake) compressor now. You can replace either one with new or rebuilt units but the quality sucks. The makers of these compressors has long been sold off many times over. I had an R4 in my rear air Sub and uograded the factory unit from R12...

    Aries step bar install

So I do all same modifying to the other side and get it all back together and the back end of the step bars still stick out ¾” further than the front. Not really that noticeable unless you’re anal about your truck. To me, completely unacceptable. Kinda hard to see in the pic but you know what I...

    Aries step bar install

Crap it cut me off so on with part two. Here's the rear support bracket and how its attached. So I can install the step bar itself now with all hardware loose so I can move it around before snugging everything up but something just doesn’t look right. I get out from under the truck and the...

    Aries step bar install

I just put these step bars on and wanted to share my experiences, good and bad. Let me first note that I’m not a huge fan of running boards, steps or step bars. They serve a functional purpose under certain conditions but I still prefer my vehicles without. That said, on my original FWD 88 Sub...

running boards, nerf bars, step bars !!!

Just finishing installing a set of Aries stainless step bars on my Suburban. Front mount is on the front body mount. Rear mount is via the front hanger of the rear spring. The "no drill" mounting was far from that. I needed to re-engineer the step bar mounts and ended up doing quite a bit of...

Saginaw PS - Sealed or vented caps

I think the cap is probably loose and allows the vent. My cap is not tight at all. I give it a quarter turn which prevents it from coming off completely but its still loose. I don't recall if my original 88 square was the same way or not. Maybe that's not how its supposed to be either. I...

    Idle screw caps?

I got mine out with a drill bit that was as close to the size of the caps as I could get. The drill just bottomed out on the end of the adjustment screws when it finally went through but didn't hurt them at all. I was amazed how hard those damn caps were.

+1 Have done exactly this several times when I needed a bolt or screw that was a touch too long. Worked out well whenever I had to do it.

What plug wires you BBC boys running

I've got Taylor's on my boat engine for at least 20 years now and MSD's on DSUB. Either set will set you back a "C" note at the very least but both have been outstanding. On a side note, I learned a long time ago that you'll never regret spending extra for good quality parts. I can't stress...

1986 C10- Is it reliable enough for a daily driver?

I hear it all the time on the ski boat forum I'm in. Everyone buys an older boat with a carb and the first thing they want to do is want put EFI on it. Their reasoning is: Carbs are simple Carbs are antiquated Carbs suck more gas Carbs are not as responsive Or the more common one is simply...
