I asked what year just out of curiosity. I haven't seen any documented proof that all CUCVS were manufactured in 1984. With over 70,000 units produced, I find it hard to believe they were all manufactured in one year. I could be wrong.
That happened to my 92 4.3 S15 Jimmy. All the wires going to the throttle body burned up. I was about 30 miles from home so I had it dragged to a local shop that cobbled up new wires. It ran fine after that but I have no idea why it happened.

My 86 M1031 was a different story. I bought that from the Steel Soldiers site when I was active there. That truck was more than I had expected. It was mint. Wish I still had it.
I got a 700R4 transmission delivered with a fork hole punched through the side of the box. There was a slight scratch on the housing, but that was about it. Forklift guy missed the pallet by about 12 inches.
I ran lines as a stand alone although it isn't recommended to do so. I do not know what the exact temperature was but it was cool enough to touch with a bare hand. I mounted it with a frame and hung it just below the flatbed.
