Fuel system conversion advise
I am probably really late to this conversation. I have been researching this myself and could help you with the parts list. And mine is an 87 Sierra 305 TBI. I may soon be switching to carb myself but mine did come with the TBI. If your block and heads are stock then the intake isn't an issue...- eric 87

@ WP29P4A Curious is there any diagram that shows where all the grounds are on the entire truck? Without all the other wiring in the diagram lol. Well I suspected I had to have a burned out SES bulb since it had flickered a couple times months back. Pulled the dash and replaced bulbs in the cluster. Also thought what can cause the gauge to drop to 8 ? Why when I hit my brakes does the gauge go down. Often the best it would do is 12.5 on...- eric 87

I know I can be all over the place with my thinking at times. Spending money on a new carb, intake and distributor taking it back to basics seems to be the easy fix. Well that is the suggestion or was from the mechanic as well. But we have since replaced it twice and it still is not doing well. Which is why I am considering the conversion. Just so many problems if you have just one wire or signal bad in the chain for the computer to make adjustments to it...- eric 87

Oh this electrical issue is first to get solved. Will not do anything until then. Not so much set on it if this would run right which it is running better when not shutting down. and then people wonder why some of us say let me stop spending on this TBI/ computer version and revert back to a carb and no sensors. Mild update. I took it for a spin today. Probably 5 miles and it never died. Have been driving it today with the air cleaner off since I was looking at all plugs to sensors etc. BUT the idle is up and down. It will idle fine for a bit even after warm up. Learned something. It is super cold this morning but I am going out in the garage and going to search high and low for wiring issues. If nothing else I will at least see if there is a wiring nest. Wondering if it isn't something under the dash since the gauge dropped to 8 when I hit the brake pedal. I wonder if there is a short in the ignition wire when the brake pedal is depressed. But we checked the entire fuel. Pressure reg was rebuilt with new parts. Pressure is good. When it died it also took out all power to include the stereo. I am not saying though to your idea. DVDswan we checked all the fuel and pressure and rebuilt the throttle body and pressure regulator. I will say this shut down killed all power. And when I hit my brake pedal once back in the drive way I noticed it took the amp gauge down to 8. Nearly bottoming out. When I let off it came back up...- eric 87
