Quadrajet getting vacuum at ported vacuum

G'mornin y'all! Been a long minute since I've had any time to tinker, but finally got some. Ol' Blue is running great, but me being me, I wanted to check timing. Like I said, tinkering. I've been running my dizzy advance ported, and she seems to like it. With the vacuum disconnected, I have...

    Gas gauge

Also, confirm that you set the gauge to read 90 ohms. Edit - Not sure if the 79 needs the 90 ohms. Sorry bout that

Stock 350 getting hot, but only on the highway with AC on

Thanks for all the tips y'all. Travelling this week, so I'll be taking a look over this coming weekend. It's crazy though. I can run at 65 mph all day on the highway. Only when I turn the AC on does it heat up. Gonna check lower hose, and air flow blockages. See if I can see something...

Stock 350 getting hot, but only on the highway with AC on

Okay, this makes no sense to me. I can cruise around all day in this heat, city or highway, no problem. Temp gauge is 180° or so consistently. I can turn on the A/C and cruise around city driving, no problem. Here's the issue. When I hit the highway and turn on the A/C, the temp climbs to...

    Misc gauges

I have a few gauges that I'd like to pass on. I believe they all work, but I got tired of fiddlin' with them, and went with a Dakota VHX system. The oil pressure and temp gauge (with needles) have orange resistors on the back. Not sure if they're good, so I might ohm them out later. Anyway...

Just heard back from Dakota Digital:

Dakota Digital HDX Install Write Up

To the OP, do you have dual tanks? Mine work and all, but I literally have to turn the key to on (not started), make the switch on the dash, turn the key off, then start it up. Then, and ONLY then will the gauge show that I switched tanks. I reached out to Dakota for clarification, but...

Dakota Digital HDX Install Write Up

I just installed the VHX version. I had the option of covering up the stock gear selector with a supplied blocker, and using something on the gauge to tell me which gear I was in. I'm guessing that's what he's asking about since the gear selector wasn't in OP's photo? Might not have installed...

    vaccum leaks

The stock mechanical fuel pump should work just fine for that, IMHO. Unless it's not working right. Then you'd need to change out the fuel pump.;)

    Oil Fill

This is going to be the dumbest thing I've ever written. So far. Been gone for a while (work), but before I left, I threw an oil change on my '83 K20. Then got ambitious, and threw on some of the chrome bling that my wife picked up a while ago as a gift. Part of that package were valve...

    Better with white lettering

I'm a bit torn myself. Grew up as a letter out kind of fella, but when the tire installer did their thing, they didn't see my note, and put them letters in. Still, it looked great. Had them switched over, and I'm not sure which I like best now! lol

Have to store outside. Truck Cover?

Been a while since I thought about this thread. What I ended up doing was....nothing. She gets washed at least once a week, and some wax thrown on her as well. Maybe twice a month? So far, so good! :)

    Leak with new seals

I've got a bit of a leak myself, on a TH400. Thought it was the pan, but nope. I'm pretty sure it's my shift linkage seal, but haven't tried putting that in yet. Watching to hear what the transmission masters say!

    Coolant Temperature sensor

Okay, that makes a lot more sense now. I obviously couldn't install the larger sensor, so I found the one shown below at the local parts house. I was trying to test it with boiling water and see how it would change the resistance. Never changed a lick. The sensor showed open the entire time...

    Coolant Temperature sensor

That's exactly what I bought, but it's too large. Won't fit in the coolant hole. ;)
