How to tell roller cam or not

Probably a sign of the attention to maintenance and being cared for that gets that longetivity. I pulled apart several 200k+ mile 454s from commercial vehicles and a few were spotless inside, many were normal wear, and some were slap worn out. Always amazed at how different they could be. Fuel...

How to tell roller cam or not

You must be super lucky. Late 94 and all of 95 saw a spike in engines replaced under warranty. Most had spun main bearings, rod bearings, and unusually high wear.

    Rounded off exhaust manifold bolts

If you have some old 12 point sockets, hammer whatever size fits over the bolt head and apply pressure while turning. You did soak them down with PB Blaster or some other quality rust penetrant and used a six point socket first? No? Me neither....

    EFI conversion on l31 swap

    1) the more modern galvanized tanks are E15 compatible, as are the zinc coated to some extent. You would then use the hanger assembly that matches the tank and the outlets you need. 2) Sniper seems to be getting good reviews. I have no hands-on experience with that brand but can tell you the...

How to tell roller cam or not

To be perfectly clear, NO 350 TBI left the factory with a roller cam. All had hydraulic flat tappet from 1987-1995 installed in engines with L05 build code. The part about the blocks being "roller ready" except for later years is true. The way I view using a flat tappet cam with current oil...

    Bvllsh!t on craigslist.

They came pre-faded from the factory! haha My Burb was repainted in 1990 under program from GM. The primer is the only thing that stuck, the paint and clearcoat fell off again.

    Identifying my transmission

Mid 70s to mid 80s econo cars, like the Chevette. The TH200 and TH200c were part of that period in GM design when they lightened everything looking for better gas mileage. Nothing basically wrong with them other than they are small, for small horsepower and Americans beat the p!ss out of everything.

MagnaFlow vs Flowmaster vs Straight Pipes

Here is some fuel for the fire. This is one of the 4.5" Flowmasters for the 72 Suburban when it gets the 632.

MagnaFlow vs Flowmaster vs Straight Pipes

You should have seen the look on the Swift driver's face when my truck downshifted while passing him and about five feet in front this thing shot a puff of white dust and fiberglass packing across his bow! Haha

MagnaFlow vs Flowmaster vs Straight Pipes

This is what happens to "packed" style mufflers with normal heat cycling and age. Thrush Vortex replaced with Flowmaster.

MagnaFlow vs Flowmaster vs Straight Pipes

I love these threads. A bit of technology, a bit of history, some myth and urban legend mixed in, and for good entertainment value, lots of internet attitude probably fueled by alcohol and "medicinal" herb. LoL

    exhaust manifold donut

Always save the flanges and at least 6" of pipe stub if reusable. You can save some bucks at the exhaust shop if they don't have to make them.

Stop me if you've heard this one...Starter problems

Working on a nightmare car (cheap owner, ebay everthing wants 500hp and 25mpg) that eats starters and makes a sound that reminds me of my ex-wife's voice (shudders) while cranking. The engine is a 98/99 SBC 350 out of a suburban (880 block) with a stroker kit and all the fancy chinese race...
