    18 degree is the angle of the valve train/ cylinder head roll. It moves the plane of mounting intakes and exhaust away from the stock location.

    Intake manifold rust

    If you ever need to clean up rusted cast iron or steel again, you can use a scotch pad and wd-40 or PB Blaster. Then wipe it clean with a rag. Good to see you plugged the ports. A small shop vac works wonders doing gasket removal.

    Try depressing the gas pedal once, with the engine cold, before starting it, and then check the position of the choke.
