I wouldn't piss her off if I were you. Any woman that can stand sideways is a woman to be reckon'd with!

    Exclusively? Or as an additive?

    Transmission?

I worked at an oil change place right out of the Navy. This was a small, local chain and I can honestly say that I am proud to have worked there. Yes, we did the up sell on filters and such but we always showed the customer THEIR original filter as part of the up sell. We didn't do any...

    Thoughts on this?

I'm not too concerned about it tearing up the motor. My thought is that it wouldn't live up to the hype. That is why I would be willing to try it only after I had decided I was going to go with another engine anyway. Since I haven't made that decision yet I guess this won't be happening here...

    Thoughts on this?

Knee jerk reaction is that this is just another mechanic in a can, and those are never what they claim. The concept is intriguing though. If I ultimately decide to go with a different engine in M&M I may volunteer to try this out on my existing engine to see how it works. To keep things fair...

    School me on the 454...

I didn't mean to imply that big rigs and pickups were the same thing. I used that to explain where my thinking originates. If I understand what you are saying, the 454 gets it's higher torque, in part, from it's heavier rotating assembly. More mass means more energy required to get it up to...

    School me on the 454...

Ok, I get that a smaller/different engine would work better for this. That doesn't answer my questions though. I'm trying to understand the theory behind how it all works together. I would like to try this with the 454 but I am not married to the idea. Right now I am still trying to...

    Brake Light Problems

It sure could explain it. If that splice was not done properly then the wiring from all three sides of the splice could start to corrode. You get to a certain point and it isn't any different from losing the circuit at the socket or the switch. Meatball surgery on wiring is a terrible thing...

    School me on the 454...

Remember when I said I knew less than someone who knows enough to be dangerous? Here is where I prove it. I have the goal of turning my '77 stock C-30 into a gas mizer. I understand that the 454 is known as a high torque engine. Keeping in mind that any towing I would do with this I could...

Irish's pickup from hell, the 454SS.

OK, that makes sense. So you want your oil temp around 215-220. That will allow your condensation to flash off and if your PCV is working properly there isn't any pressure to overcome. Cool.

    86 K20-Considering Helper Springs

You are correct. The after market isolation valve doesn't control leveling. It allows you to manually isolate a leaking bag. You would install one on the tractor and one on the trailer and but that ahead of all your airbags running each one individually through it's own shut off. If you've...

    86 K20-Considering Helper Springs

Not saying air leaks are common on these setups. It's just one of those things I think about from too many years on the road with air ride and air brakes. There are now companies that make air isolation manifolds for class 8 trucks so you can limp to a shop when something breaks. Just seems...

    86 K20-Considering Helper Springs

Do you run your plumbing through a central manifold with shut-offs? I like this because it allows you to isolate a broke air line. You may not be pretty, but you can keep other things working until you can make a repair. If you blow a bag or air line to a bag you can isolate the leak and...

TH400 Vs 700R4 Vs 4L80e Vs gear vendor

I've only been driving commercially for a little over a decade and I am already feeling it in my left hip. I get why people like manuals and I will insist my kids learn to drive one, but I don't care to do so any longer. Life's to short to hurt yourself on purpose.

Sorry, been pushing a clutch for work for too many years. Don't want to do that anymore. Tired of my Ranger for the same reason. I enjoy driving but just don't want to work at it.

Irish's pickup from hell, the 454SS.

Not to go into all of that but I assume you are talking about the coolants boiling point under pressure and not with an open cap. It would be easy to say that means 212 degrees if you are running no antifreeze but that doesn't account for the pressure of the system which isn't great but would...

TH400 Vs 700R4 Vs 4L80e Vs gear vendor

I am horribly offended and believe that the WNB (Wet Noodle Brigade) should be called out immediately to deal with those responsible for hijacking my most important of threads. Either that or I'll just sit back and maybe learn something.

TH400 Vs 700R4 Vs 4L80e Vs gear vendor

Granted, most of my experience in this is with diesel engines and not all of that crosses over. With no work load though, I stand by lower RPMs being better so long as you aren't lugging the engine. If I were doing this under load I definitely see your point. Remember, the taller gears are...

    Electrical issue....truck not starting

I like the idea of checking the cables over. The connections may be tight but you could have a corrosion break somewhere in the length of the cable. You'll read full voltage but you won't be able to deliver the amperage.
