    Guess the car...

I think my interest in owning it would stop at around $5000. Shows you what I know about exotic cars.

    Guess the car...

gyg was on the right track but Dustin nailed it. A 1967 model to be exact. This particular one is all original except for the tires. I think they said it has around 30K original miles. The owner has been offered $160,000 for it by Mazda Corporation but it's being sold to a private collector.

    Guess the car...

I was at a shop today getting some ppf installed on the wife's car and they were detailing this little thing. Hadn't seen one before, it turns out these were very limited production. Only one or two remain in driving condition. Right hand drive adds to the strange factor.

    Sway Bar End Link Bushings

I've seen a lot of end link bushings but never ones like that. What brand are they?

    Rear sway bar

End links are available in many lengths. Heck, if you have the bushings you can fab up your own with all-thread rod, fender washers, and lock nuts. On the ones I made, I slipped a piece of galvanized steel tubing over the center section of all-thread for added rigidity. In my case it made a...

    Rear sway bar

Depends on your access to a decent junkyard. Closest one to me is a 45 minute drive and it’s 90% imports. Last time I was there they only had two well-stripped squares. Space at junkyards is like space at the grocery stores, they get filled with what sells and squarebody parts won’t keep them in...

    Rear sway bar

If you want a Hellwig bar you shouldn't wait too much longer, they are out of production and no longer listed on their site. There are still a few around and the cheapest price I've found is $213 w/free shipping. Check Ebay or Jegs for Hellwig 7535.

73-80 Squarebody XJ Steering Shaft Upgrade

Retro’s thread doesn’t cover pre 77 according to his first post but I’m too lazy to go back and read all of it to see if someone covered the early years. Value added here if not.

    When your Passengers

It's amazing how many people ignore the giant crank handle and hit the lock button while trying to roll down the window.

    Hydraboost question

Not overpriced at all. I bought a used HB unit off craigslist for $20. It leaked. Thought it was a waste of twenty bucks until I went to buy one at the auto parts store and found out there was a $60 core charge. So the craigslist deal ended up saving me $40.

    Roof Spoiler, these available?

Those roof spoilers always make me think of a certain movie scene.

    Mystery Motor Mounts

Even without the possibility of an engine swap, finding the correct mounts can be challenging. Standing at the NAPA counter, the guy tells me there are two possible mounts for my truck. Not wanting to make a second trip to the store, I buy both sets. Neither fits. I ended up cutting apart one of...

$150 Wham-Bam, Hack N Pack Shop Style Paint Job.

If I lived where there are tornadoes I'd have the same symbol but I'd add a little guy running away from it.

What's the symbol on the door? Looks like you're a tornado chaser.

Looks pretty good, I was expecting house paint and a roller.

    Worn out 250 Straight 6

I wouldn't bother with just a top-end rebuild on an engine with that many miles. Drop in a long block and be done with it.

Locker and 13 bolt shave install.

Trust me on this, you definitely don't want to google "full shaved rear end" if you're at work.

What have you done to your square lately??

Needed to replace the little compressor I use for the overload air bags because it wouldn't pump more than about 30 psi anymore. Got the small ARB unit they make for air lockers. It won't inflate tires but I don't need that anyway so it's a good size for my application. My old setup was a...

How durable is the 14 bolt SF rear axle?

Mine has held up well. I've run mine pretty hard taking clients up a steep dirt Forest Service access road for twenty years. It's a 4000 ft. climb in 4-Lo with over 3000 lbs of people and gear. Only issue I've had is some seepage at the axle tube welds. Not enough to drip, it just gets damp and...

Plastic rock guard in front of rear tire. Available?

I wouldn’t bother with contacting Xpel directly, they just make the product and sell it in rolls to installers. The authorized installers have computer controlled patterns they cut on site but that’s for the common stuff. Entire front end of an Audi Q5? Yep, point-click-done. Anything...

Rear sway bar recommendation for 82 C10

I’m surprised the Hellwig bar is that much. I paid $130 for mine plus $20 shipping in 2003. Yeah, sixteen years is a fair amount of time but the price of most things for our trucks hasnt gone up 175%. I should mention the end links that came with mine were about as strong as bendy straws and...

    fresh air intake

Later version for tbi. Wanted to mount the second snorkel upside down for a symmetrical look but it wouldn't clear the master cylinder. 4" abs pipe from the hardware store was used at the core support with the intake tucked behind the headlights. All of the original bits are still there so it...

What have you done to your square lately??

Noticed a couple of things that needed attention while switching out the cats. Saw some chunks of rubber under the rear axle and discovered the sway bar end link bushings were toast. Ordered a new set from Energy Suspension and installed them. While doing that I also noticed one of the front...
