    Suburban tailgate glass

Hi guys, just a quick question regarding the operation of the tailgate glass on the suburbans. I can lower the glass with the key but I cannot raise it with the key. Only way I can raise the glass is with the ignition on and via the dash rocker switch. Previous owner said that its always been...

    Let's talk oil

Just to clear things up, a 5W-40, 10W-40, 15W-40 etc... all have the same (ok maybe not exactly the same, but within allowable range) viscosity at operating temp (100degC - 212degF). Were they differ is in the cold flow rates - so the 5W will flow much better at freezing temps compared to a 15W...

TBI to carb swap, will the cruise control still work?

no sure what the K5 setup is, but in my 89 suburban the cruise speed sensor comes off the speedo - which is a pain in the arse as the speedo isnt working at the moment so no cruise control

    454 tbi occasional oil smoke?

Yep, vac modulator. Pulled the vac tube to be greated with auto trans oil. You can see it in the photo on the vacuum side. Thanks for the help all, i wouldnt have even considered this line of thought if it wasnt for the forum help Sent from my SM-J320ZN using Tapatalk

    Basic TBI mod success

Do the spacers make much of a difference on the 454? I've been thinking about what Im going to do with mine and I think the simplest option to make some decent power from mine will be to ditch the TBI and go carb - I'd like to go injected, but the setups I like are just a little out of my price...

    454 tbi occasional oil smoke?

Just another feedback post. I think you guys might be onto something with the Vac modulator. Had to top up the auto trans and no visible external leaks

    454 tbi occasional oil smoke?

Hey all, just revisiting my earlier post to throw a little more info up. I'm still getting the smoke on start up, but at completely random times - there's more clean starts than smokey ones. As for smoke on decel it's most likely to do it after running for 10mins or so at highway speeds. I might...

    454 TBI lack of power

Well got a little a pissed off with the power levels dropping (I've been on a 1500km drive) and stopped at a hardware store in a country town (not many towns to drive through on this trip either) and picked up a new hacksaw: Wow, what a difference, the burb is working again, no issues holding...

    454 TBI lack of power

It's not always overheating - it was ok for temps during my run last night when the ambient temps where down. It's mainly during the middle of the day when it's hottest (it is summer here after all)

    454 TBI lack of power

I'm reasonably sure it its that rear cat causing most of the issues. I've been having a shit drive today where it seems to block up (can hear a lot of exhust trying to escape from a pin hole leak) and then I loose a heap of power and then she overheats. Dosent help when the weather has been hot...

Stock tire size for dually and how big can I go?

Thanks for that. That's the current size tyre I have on it now so all good there (I do want to go for a wider tyre once these ones are done). I was mainly curious to know what size was stock as my speedo is reading slow by a fair amount so I was thinking I may have had a larger diameter than stock.

While we are on the subject of stock tyre sizes - anyway know what the stock size is for a 2WD 89 burb?

    454 TBI lack of power

Heres the only cat in my exhaust. Funny as one of my original thoughts was that there may have been a restriction in the exhaust. There is a small pin jole leak around on of the welds up near the front - i previously noticed it seemed to be leaking with more pressure (didnt notice it last night...
