    Leaf springs

I wish it came with the stock springs but it had rear blocks and rancho 3" fronts with dual rancho shocks. It rides about the same on streets and FWY but uses and has more travel off road especially when I disconnect the sway bar

Steering gear box replacement or rebuild?

Does the crossover steering work with lifts under 4" ? I have a 2" front lift that actually sits 3" over stock but may sag back to 2"? Would you still recommend crossover? Thanks

yes I have the 2" tuff country springs, they actually measure 3" over stock springs and they are the easy ride not heavy duty. I am hoping they sag. 2" lift or 1 1/2" would be perfect for me. 33" tires fit on my truck with an 8" wide 3.75 backspace, I had a 10" rim prior to these and they rubbed...

If you don't mind spending the cash I would go with Alcan springs in CO. Prob close to $800 for the pair.

A BFG 31X10.5R15LT Tire recommended rim width 7-9" I'm guessing your stock is in the ball park 3.73 gears with 31" tires should be perfect all around gear ratio As far as springs go call before you buy. You could look around for a used stock 3 spring pack. I gave mine away to metal scrap guy.

On the front of the truck, there is a bumpstop right above the front axle. Measure from the top of the axle tube (not the spring or spring plate, but the axle tube) to the bottom of the metal bumpstop bracket. A stock truck is about 8-1/2”

modern size wheels that fit squarebody chevies

Axle guy told me it didn't add much benefit, so I removed it. since I'm keeping the little 10 bolt for now I'll drive it till it breaks. It seemed for likely to get caught up on rocks etc...

modern size wheels that fit squarebody chevies

This is My 1989 Jimmy 4x4 with 15"x8" wheels they have 3.75" backspacing with 1/4 of space between rim and tie rod ends. I believe you can have more backspacing with larger diameter rim? I have also seen and read about some K5's with more backspacing. It may depend on witch tie rods you use. HD...

    Backspace 15" vs 17"

Rory Do you know what is the MAXIMUM backspacing that will fit? My 15" with BS 3.75" is pretty much it, I think slightly more with a 17" rim but not sure how much If a 17" with 4.5" backspace works that would open up many options

    Backspace 15" vs 17"

i'm hoping to reduce some steering play/slop. With the push pull steering it will never feel super tight but it will feel a litter tighter i wanna reduce sidewall height keep 33" over all

    Backspace 15" vs 17"

1989 GMC Jimmy 15"x8" with 3.75" backspace and 1/4-3/8 space between rim and Tie rods If I move up to a 17" rim will a 4.5" back space work? Not too many options for 17" or 18" (simple style) rims with less than 4" back space If this has been answered already sorry I haven't found yet Thanks
