Equal - Tire Balancing Beads, No weights to Lose

Personal experience, recommendations by others, and along with some balance bead formulas I found. Most places said a minimum of 8-10 ounces. Mininum. The places I go end of packing the wheels in snow, mud, dirt. So now my wheels are imbalanced by foreign material. If there were more balance...

Equal - Tire Balancing Beads, No weights to Lose

I air down probably once a month. No problems at all with them interfering with the valve stems at all. The only possible drawback I can think of is if you fill up your tires with a lot of moist air maybe the beads would freeze into a clump in the winter? But I air my tires up with a CO2 bottle...

    Front 2-3" Springs

If you don't want a bunch of travel just keep your sway bar bolted on. That will limit that and also make the front ride more "harsh" if you are not wanting a soft ride. If the ride is too harsh then you can get a sway bar disconnect kit. This will allow the axle to take some bumps that...

    Spring Lift Ride Question

The main thing that helped for me was a shackle flip allowed me to go from 52" springs to 56" springs. Some have went to the newer 63" springs. The longer the spring is the better the ride even with the same load carrying capability. Also the stock shackle is "locked" into place. It is the...

Zero Rates on the Front Axle

I thought moving the axle forward doesn't allow you to run a sway bar... or did you already remove yours?

    Spring Lift Ride Question

Another option for ride quality would be do a shackle flip. Can do a 2.5" or a 4" Since you have to drill out the existing spring hanger can then go with a longer 56" spring. That will ride nicer and still could have some weight carrying capability. You can measure the thickness of the existing...

    Leaf springs for 87 V1500

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=4668894&cc=1300868&pt=7544&jsn=972 https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=2596142&cc=1300868&pt=7544&jsn=974 I'm not sure if the links above will work- Rockauto also has dimensions of the spring packs, a picture of the spring pack, and gives the...

    Leaf springs for 87 V1500

I was told once upon a time that Dayton Spring is a good company. The company history goes back to Stanley Spring Works, then TRW Spring then Dayton Spring since 1988. SD truck springs sells them along with RockAuto. I bought longer 56" Dayton rear springs for my truck a few years ago. Happy...

    Trans/Transfer Case Combo Opinions Needed

I once asked Offroad design about a 205 vs a atlas and they said the atlas was designed for more light weight vehicles (jeep) and the transfer case follows that- more light weight and not really meant for abuse. For instance the idler shaft has thrust washers on it vs a tapered bearing. Atlas...

    Rust converters and Frame paint

I've used chassis saver on my front and rear bumpers and some brackets under the truck. Hopefully this summer I can do more of the frame and crossmembers. https://www.magnetpaints.com/underbody.asp

    SWB/Lift/Driveline Considerations

I'm running an Eaton Truetrac on my D44. I did put in Ten Factory chromoly axle shafts in. I've heard it was possible to have pinion bearing issues if it was very steep- but not sure at what angle that is. Probably the guys with 14" of lift.

Do I rebuild my SBC or swap for an LS3?

It can happen. On my old 400 I bought it and found out later some lobes on the cam were wiped out. Replaced the cam. Then my dad upgraded the heads on his 290hp 350 crate. They only had a few thousand miles on them so I put them on the 400. Instantly started using a ton of oil. It never leaked...

Do I rebuild my SBC or swap for an LS3?

Yeah- I was hoping that coolant passage on that manifold under the TBI would solve my problems. It just created new ones. I have tried TWO of those manifolds and both have porous castings. Both let coolant creep thru and onto the floor of the intake manifold. And until you get some coolant temps...

Pro Flo 4- hate to try again after Edelbrock E-Street EFI

So in doing more reading and research I found it won't be quite as "easy" as I thought. Apparently with pro flo 4 if you have a stock cam then you cannot use the 60 psi fuel pressures. Need their lower pressure of 49 psi. The Edelbrock fuel sump I have cannot be opened or modified. So then add...

Pro Flo 4- hate to try again after Edelbrock E-Street EFI

I tried halfway even. It is happiest at 10-12 degrees. It seemed to surge even worse also at the more advanced timing. There was a reason they discontinued it in fairly short order. Sad it cost so much.

Pro Flo 4- hate to try again after Edelbrock E-Street EFI

So I spent $2,489 back in September 2015 on Edelbrock's "New" E-street TBI fuel injection. Better than a carb, but has issues. It was the 1st generation. Had issues. They came out with a second generation. Had issues. Then the discontinued it. Problems: Cannot set the idle RPM to 650. My HT383...

Survey - Best posi trac/limited slip unit

I've never had a Dura-Grip, but my vote is for the Eaton Tru Trac. I've had one for years in the front of my K20. Works perfect. Don't know it is there (no clunking, weird noises, etc). It just does the job silently. I liked it so much a friend of mine put one in the back of his 2001...

    6 lug conversion

I think that is your only option without swapping out axles. Do a disc brake conversion on the 14 bolt. Then get those Wilwood twin piston brake calipers all the way around. And if you did a hydroboost setup you'd have everything you'd ever need. If that isn't enough then the next step is a drag...

    Headlight, driving lights.

On my truck I switched from a 10si to a 12si as it made more amperage at a lower RPM. And I also put on a smaller pulley. I believe the stock one was 2.6" in diameter. I found one that was 2.342" For something like $14 it helps a bit at lower RPM.

    Help Identifying lift height

Are you always going to have the camper on it? Would be interesting to see the height with it unloaded. This is mine with 315/75R16s and a 5" lift.

    Burnouts with a NP203 full time 4wd?

I'm not too sure then. One idea would be if you can have someone drive it in a very tight circle in a gravel or dirt parking lot. Both right and left full circles while you are watching from outside. That might tell you something interesting. Any chance it has a locker in the front or rear...

    Burnouts with a NP203 full time 4wd?

Sounds like the transfer case is working then if it doesn't move when the hubs are unlocked. So do you feel it "grabbing" thru the steering wheel? Or? And this is at parking lot speeds?

    Burnouts with a NP203 full time 4wd?

No. It should be very smooth for doing tight turns. Are you sure you are not in the 4 HI LOC position? If your transfer case lever is all the way forward (LO LOC) or all the way back towards the seats that is HI LOC. In those positions the transfer case is locking the front and rear drivelines...
