    SMS Upholstery

You are right. They even had the correct material for my 1938 Plymouth coupe.

    SMS Upholstery

Yes, they are only the vendor for material. You have a local upholsterer do the install.

    SMS Upholstery

If anyone is looking to reupholster their truck seats, give SMS Upholstery in Oregon a call. Good communication, sent samples right away and had the exact GM original Dark Green Buffalo Hide vinyl for my '77 Cheyenne. Much better than that cheesey after market velour most people use now. Price...

How Come You Never See This Anymore?

Rusty Nail, My map pockets were really sagging too but it was an easy fix. I removed them and put new elastic through the holes. Tightened it right up just like new. Got the fabric elastic from my wife. She sews a lot. You can buy it at any sewing shop or Michaels for a couple of bucks. Perfect...

How Come You Never See This Anymore?

I don't think $500-$700 sounds that bad either. If I had a truck that came with the wood grain I would totally re-do it as part of the restoration process. I had a couple of really nice examples I wanted to post here but.......CAN'T POST NO PICS!!!!

How Come You Never See This Anymore?

The pickups and Blazers with the woodgrain side panels. I remember seeing quite a few of them when I was a kid up in Seattle and this body style was pretty new. I thought they looked real sharp. Now with all the restorations going on with these 40+ year old trucks, you never see anyone re-do the...

    Headliner advice

I just ordered the Rock Auto bare headliner for $113.79. Shipping was only $20.99 which seems pretty reasonable. I will post back here on quality and fit.

    Intermediate Shaft Seal/Boot

Yes, that is the same one I used. Great fit.

    Intermediate Shaft Seal/Boot

Well, I don't know what's going on but I can't load a picture of this boot/shaft. I keep getting a message saying my picture exceeds the size allowed but I've reduced the image down to 4X6 and the pixels down to 150. No reason this shouldn't load.....?:Frustrated:

    Intermediate Shaft Seal/Boot

OK, solved this one. After checking the dimensions of this shaft boot on line, even though it's listed for a Jeep, I decided to give it a try. It was less than $10 on eBay. It is not an exact replacement for the Chevrolet boot which tucks up inside the coupler. This one projects out of the...

    SUPER RARE! eBay Listing.....Fail

Got a good laugh tonight while searching on eBay for odds and ends for my Cheyenne. The regular old, standard black rubber steering wheel that came on about a million trucks from '73 on up. Nicks in the rim, worn vinyl, typical Chevy truck wheel. The same one you see at every swap meet for $40...

    Intermediate Shaft Seal/Boot

That's funny, I noticed there were tons of these boots listed on eBay for Jeeps. It looks like it would fit my application. Does anyone know for sure?

Got a Problem, Gonna Need Some Help Here....

I decided it was easier to replace the entire column. Replacement column just needs a little cleaning up, should be fine. Thanks for the input.

    Intermediate Shaft Seal/Boot

While I have my steering column out I'd like to replace the rubber boot that fits on the end of the column to the intermediate shaft. Mine has pretty much disintegrated. Anyone reproducing these? No luck at Classic Industries and eBay lists a couple but not truck specific (Chevelle, GTO, etc.).

Got a Problem, Gonna Need Some Help Here....

The turn signal switch in my '77 has been acting up and I knew I needed to replace it. No big deal. Tonight I decide to pull the wheel and I find that the upper shaft, where the nut tightens on to hold the wheel, is damaged so bad I cannot reuse it. The nut was only on there for show. It was...

    Glove Box Lamp/Switch?

Y,know, now that you mention it, I cannot swear I've seen them either. But I find it hard to believe that the General would have glove box lamps since the 40's but not make them available in the '70's ??? Even at the Silverado trim level? A quick search of options seems to list everything except...

    Anti theft?

Of course, this is my first choice. But I was more concerned with the times when I'm not within firing distance of my truck. I didn't want to have to deal with a big clunky steering lock system but then I figured, if my truck was stolen, I 'd feel a lot worse than how the anti theft system...

    Anti theft?

Hey guys, I'm curious what some of you might be using for your older trucks, like mine (1977) as an alarm or anti theft system? Brand, cost, etc. Thanks, Greg
