I know the 1980 trucks have a slip yoke & not fixed & therefore have a long 1 piece driveshaft. All the others that I've seen with a fixed yolk do have the 2 piece shaft with center support; at least on long bed apps.

Dad's old crew has over 400K miles on the original SM465. It too has the third gear howl but it's not deafening or sounds mechanically disastrous. Years back I swapped in another SM465 from a C60 dump; this tranny howled in neutral. I suppose this was from running the PTO for the hydro unit...
As long as you're not running an extremely negative offset wheel then the 33 should be no problem. I have 33x12.50 on the factory 8 inch rallye wheel on my 82 K15, with no lift.
Welcome in from NC. Those radial 37's ride great on pavement. Won't "look" as good as
a set of 40' Swampers but definitely more user & consumer friendly. I've ran these 37 OZ tires for 30 years...probably have some around here that old too!
I carried the Rusty Rad to school & wrenched a bit. Put on a better bumper, factory grille, bled the brakes, fixed fuel lines & welded the exhaust. I also took the liberty of "clearancing" the fenders to make room for the 35's.
I haven't done much of anything except work. I did move dad's crew around and let it run for a spell. I came across this pic from 1993/1994 that has my '72 Camaro, '76 High Sierra and dad's old ramp/skid '79 C35. It's good to reminisce sometimes.

Welcome from NC. Keeping the family heirloom to fix is awesome. I have my dad's Crew 20 that he bought new. Keeping it in the family. Thanks for the pics too.

Just went with my SIL & got this '85 K10 CUCV axle swap. 454, 4-speed...I'm ready to put it in the woods!
The PO was using it down at Wilmington & Jacksonville at the mud pits. It's healthy & I'm ready!
It's a Big Block Chevy...is there any question? So, if it were a tall deck 366 or 427 I may hesitate to build it for a Square; but a 396 will nestle nicely in the engine compartment. I may be a bit biased as I have 4 396/402 engines and a couple 454's.

That's a fantastic looking truck. 20's & 30's usually live hard lives and don't end up looking as good as the one you have. Welcome from NC and welcome to the site.
