    Lift kit

Shocks make a big difference. I went from gas charged too hydraulic. The gas charged were stiff for everyday driving.

    Fuel Hose OK ?

I used Jeg's Pro-Flo nylon braided hose with AN fittings from my fuel pump to the pressure regulator and carb. It's a little easier to work with than SS braided line. It will cut easier than SS. You have to secure it and keep it from rubbing against other components. It is NHRA accepted for use...

New crate engine oil priming/ ignition timing impact if the distributor is mis-installed

Lucus makes an ZDPD additive that you can add to the oil. It's in a 16 ounce bottle. I would add this to the oil every oil change. The RP oil should be fine for start up.

What have you done to your square lately??

Replaced the wiper motor on my truck. It has been a problem for several years. I learned that there is power always going to the motor when the key is on. The switch on the column grounds the wire, thus completing the circuit. The old motor wouldn't run on the high speed, and barely work on the...

How is everyone making their wiring look not a mess under the hood.?

I vote for the mesh split loom. I bought mine from Jeg's. It also works well on vacuum, rubber, and plastic lines. I prefer it over the plastic stuff.

Which is the correct fuel tank ?

My 85 K-10 long bed has a 20 gal on the driver's side and a smaller tank on the pass. side. I'm thinking it is a 16 Gal.

What have you done to your square lately??

Replaced the rear driveshaft U-joints. I had to melt out the plastic locks from the old ones. I'm thinking they were from 85. I have the one-piece shaft. I used the C-clamp from My Maddax ball joint kit and a Dewalt impact to remove and install the joints. There was still grease in the...

    Double cardan ball

I found this kit on Rock Auto. It looks like there's keepers like valve spring locks that need to be removed.

What’s IT Worth? (Post all “what’s it worth threads here)

Alot depends on the area of the country you're trying to sell the truck in. For instance, the C-15. I would knock 1K off because of no working AC. I'm in the Houston TX area. Working 4 wheel drive add a grand. Emission equipment in working order is a big deal to some people. Looking at it I'm...

    Going Poly

I replaced my rear spring bushings this past weekend. The job went pretty well. The old bushings looked like they were original. These two were the last ones that I had to do. The trucks suspension has been redone front and back. With the new shocks and all the other work she rides better then...

What have you done to your square lately??

When I replaced my shocks. I found some odd sized bolts. I went back and replaced them with what I think is the correct size 1/2" by 3" cap screw. The pass side lower front was so long it touched the axel tube. I had to add a spacer and a bunch of washers. I didn't like the look of a hack job...

Is there such a thing as Cams for Dummies

For mild builds I like to stick with GM parts. I did that with several LS builds and on a couple of mild Gen 1 350's. The GM cams are very easy on valve springs , make good torque, don't require high stall torque convertors, and are emission compliant. The biggest question you have to ask...

    Offroad design rear shock bracket

I replaced the old stud with the new one. I then mounted the shock, the large washer and then the bracket followed by the lock nut.

    Worth getting MSD?

I'm running an MSD 6 A box with the built in rev limiter. It's the newer digital box. It also has a built-in anti-theft if you ground one of the spare wires with a hidden switch the truck will crank but not start. I'm using an Accell Dizzy, but it has a big red cap:cool:. I wanted the box so I...

    New Shocks

I replaced the old Rough Country Shocks out for Skyjackers. The RC shocks were over 10 years old they were a good shock. They were gas charged. They rode rough. IMO they are much better suited for off road use. The Skyjackers ride a bit smoother. They are a Hydro shock only. Thats the reason I...

    Deleting emissions,read this article.

Why are you worrying about this crap! You live in Kansas. I get the FED part of being legal. They are after the diesels and the companies selling the delete kits. If you go by a new car, or truck and remove all the pollution control equipment, and change the tuning. Then yes you will run the...

    Pulling all the smog stuff

Wow this topic has stirred up the natives. My old truck didn't have a cat on it when I bought it. I don't think my one truck will make much of a difference in the Houston area. One chemical plant or refinery puts out more **** in a day then all of us on this forum and our families will pollute...

1980 C10 backfires through carb under load

More than likely the carb mixture is lean. I would invest in a wide band O2 analyzer and go from there. I had to change the springs in my Dizzy. With the stock springs the truck would ping under throttle at low speeds. i put in a heavy and a light spring which cleared up the pinging. I bought a...

    Gauge cluster lighting, redux

I put in the blue LED's. They weren't much brighter than the old clear incandescent ones. I may try the white LED's. I could dig the green vibe. I've never been a fan of the red. It seems the old Japanese cars had red back in the 80's.
