'87 - 5.7 TBI, Separate Temp Sensor & Sending Unit?

The one at the back of the manifold just underneath and to the driver's side of the distributor is the Oil Pressure SWITCH which is a part of the fuel relay circuit. The one that is just above your oil filter is for the Oil Pressure Gauge. I agree with @Originalthor and it is shown in your...

    Tuff Country Lift Kit Experience

The first two thoughts I have here are: 1. I am sorry this happened to you. 2. Your first post on this forum is a rant about a vendor that normally gets great reviews so are you a legitimate source? Can you include/attach some pictures? When I ordered my Skyjacker 2.5" front springs they...

What have you done to your square lately??

I agree they would look better...but they would not be correct. What I have in there now is the design that it left the factory with and that is what I want it to look like. I am not trying to get this old war horse back to all original condition but I do want it relatively close.

What have you done to your square lately??

Not "done" yet but took a pic anyway. I received a brand new set of center caps for my '87 4wd. I had polished the originals and got them looking pretty good but I wanted them to look a little bit better. I also remember the 4X4 decals being orange, mine are red. I doubt most folks really...

    towing rig

Be Nice! You are going to hurt someone's feelings! And the 6.5 is really not the 3rd worst diesel ever made. It's probably 5th or 6th worst... I was kind of curious about how he was going to get that old motor to put out 350HP and 600ft.lbs of torque though. That would have been interesting...

electric switch on shifter, need ideas

If the "look" means anything, the switch you already have matches your Truck better anyway. As long as it does what you want it to do and you are happy with it, Mission Accomplished.

That truck is Perfect. I am beyond jealous.

electric switch on shifter, need ideas

@SirRobyn0 I am a firm believer in Form Follows Function. Where it WORKS best is more important than where it looks best. As you have probably deduced, I like keeping wires tucked out of the way for both cosmetic and safety reasons. But if the wires can be ziptied out of the way and the...

electric switch on shifter, need ideas

I like the sturdy, purposeful look of that switch and because the wiring is neater I like it on the side of the shifter closest to the dash. It does seem to be a bit bulky for your application though. I know that if I were walking past a truck like yours I would look inside it. I would notice...

electric switch on shifter, need ideas

@SirRobyn0 I sincerely apologize. Pissing you off was never my intention. I have stated multiple times that I really like your truck and respect what you are doing with it. You asked for help with this thread and I was making an attempt to provide some help. I was trying to be amusing at the...

electric switch on shifter, need ideas

The problem is that a "Tow Haul" button is a momentary contact like a horn or starter button. The switch he is currently using is either open or closed. He would have to do some re-wiring and re-engineering to go with a momentary contact button.

Hydraulic clutch not engaging as far as it should.

If there is air trapped in the master cylinder it will do exactly what you are describing. I made the mistake of replacing my clutch master cylinder the night before I was supposed to leave for Cruising The Coast. I could not drive the truck... Does it feel like you are getting full...

    GMC vs. CHEVROLET

Are you referring to this sort of Modern Grill? Like a catfish gasping for breath? ;) It is somewhat true that Form Follows Function. My '87 TBI 350 was rated at 210HP and 300 ft. lbs. of torque. It didn't take a lot of cooling capacity to keep that engine within its operating range even...

The one on the driver's side appears to be for the Air Conditioner Compressor. It is hard to say in the second pic, you are too close in but my alternator is located about where I think you are showing us. My smog pump is below that.

electric switch on shifter, need ideas

@Turbo4whl in my early days as a contractor in chemical plants and refineries I was running conduit and pulling wire for a living. When someone did ugly work, when the craftsmanship was sub par, they were often told something like "That looks like hammered goat s**t. Are you gonna leave it...

electric switch on shifter, need ideas

Good grief man, a hammered goat turd would look better! How can you... I would say to mount it close to that toggle switch you have already that is below and to the left of your radio. I would think that if you are not using a relay, you are just relying on the contacts in the switch you need...

    GMC vs. CHEVROLET

I cannot agree on this one. My '07 Classic LBZ 2500HD was a Monster. That truck moved everything I hooked it to and served me well. But I loved the look of the '17 to '19 2500HD and my '19 is a better tow vehicle in every way. More power, better fuel mileage and a much better chassis. I do...

    Square body meet Richmond Indiana

It hurts me to read that you are having these troubles with that old truck. Clearly it has become more trouble than it is worth. To save you from any more aggravation I will come up there and haul it off for you. I won't even charge you any money, I will do this out of the goodness of my...

Aaron I just kept fighting mine until it finally went in. I gave up and sat down to think about it several times, went inside and re-watched every Youtube video I could find and still just kept fighting it until it worked. After I drove it around and things settled in I can get the window to...

    I’m in love - here’s the truck I’m dating

Not to everyone. Some of us don't like it at all. I respect the opinions of others and I admire the craftsmanship but I prefer a standard height 2wd, and I have nothing against a long bed. I remember using square body trucks to haul things and pull things. My wife and I agreed to buy...

    I’m in love - here’s the truck I’m dating

@tophat36 I think you have the right attitude going into this. I think (I may be wrong) that a Squircle is an 80/81 year model that has the square nose but instead of the round headlights has the square headlights. You may notice that the headlights on your truck are relatively uncommon for a...

    Securing Load

@JRichason I don't know how nice the bed of your truck looks so if it is beautifully finished wood that changes things. I always end up carrying an EZ UP brand canopy, 4 to 6 folding chairs, an ice chest and whatever else my favorite-ex-brother-in-law needs for a car show. My bed floor is...
